There is a law of nature, Nothing in this world that is equal. If we have light, then there's darkness, if some planets rotate clockwise, then some planets also rotate anti-clock wise. Pavel Durov had to escape from his own country because Putin's government officials wanted to control VK. In an interview Durov told that he first started thinking about leaving Russia in 2011 when a SWAT team showed up at his door with guns after he refused to shut down the profiles of opposition politicians. He didn't answer the door, but they remained outside for over an hour. Two years later, Durov realized that allies of President Vladimir Putin had bought 48% of the company, despite the fact that he was supposed to have right of first refusal.
In June 2017 when Durov and his developer team was in the US, US Intelligence agencies tried to bribe Telegram developers to create a backdoor into the Telegram messenger. He also tweeted about Signal app and claimed that it has been funded by the US government and they are creating a backdoor into it.
The encryption of Signal (=WhatsApp, FB) was funded by the US Government. I predict a backdoor will be found there within 5 years from now.
