This is the most recent experimentation from the software giant that uses artificial intelligence technology in an unusual way.
No, there is still no flying car (for now). And, sorry, we still cannot travel to the stars any easier. But a promise of the future - that computers can help the blind to see - is starting to come true.

The latest example of this technology is Seeing AI from Microsoft , a free iPhone app , which was launched on Wednesday and tells you the world about you. If you point the phone to the park, the device will tell you what you see. If you point it at a person, it will tell you if you are smiling. If you point it to a ticket, it will tell you it’s denomination. He'll even tell you about a product when you scan it.
You just have to grasp the Smartphone and listen to the information about the world around you, promises Microsoft.
It sounds like magic, but Microsoft is not the only one to have thought about this. Apple, Google, Facebook and Amazon are working on similar projects.

Facebook, for example, explained in February how it has been using artificial intelligence to describe what's in the photos that appear in your chronology. And Apple has been using voice assistants to help the blind learn programming. Google, for its part, introduced Google Lens this year , an app that identifies objects that the phone has in front, and even offers you related actions (if it's a concert poster, gives you the option of buying tickets).
Seeing AI is the latest project he has created using his artificial intelligence technology. The company has also launched tools for video game developers to create games you can talk to and also created a Twitter program called Tay that you hoped could simulate the conversations of a teenage girl. That project, however, was canceled after some trolls taught him to hate feminists, praise Adolf Hitler and request sex.
This sounds like great tech, but i imagine it would be very inconvenient to use. Like, how does a the blind person know where to point his phone at? I think goggles that could describe the things that are in their field of vision would be a real hit though.
But yeah, as a stepping stone to that, it seems very promising!

This might be revolutionary in that field, I know there is a large school here for the def and the blind, they would be all over that, sounds awesome!

Seeing AI is definitely a big market that's growing right now. For example, the assistive technology for visually impaired from OrCam are optical character recognition glasses that help blind and visually impaired to "read" using AI technology. Definitely going to be a big tool in the future that I see growing and expanding tremendously. Thanks for sharing :)
