How do Power Plants Know How Much Power to Generate?

In this video we take a look at something power plants monitor in order to figure out if they need to produce more, or less, electrical power. By monitoring the frequency of the alternating current, power plants know if they must increase power output to meet increased demands, or decrease power output.
