Every year, more and more suicides occur all over the world. There are many reasons, but the consequences of this decision are tragic not only for people who have decided to take their lives, but also for outsiders.
It often happens that a suicide, for example, jumps from a block or a bridge and later falls on innocent people walking down the street or driving a car. Then he is killed not only by himself, but also causes serious injuries or even leads to the garbage of other, innocent people.
That is why Phillip Nitschke, a controversial artist and former Australian doctor, decided to design and build a special capsule enabling suicide on request with a single button that would eliminate this problem. And it's completely painless.
The project saw the light of last year, but only a few days ago, the creators presented the prototype of their invention at the funeral fair in Amsterdam. The capsule called Sacro enjoyed great interest. Interestingly, several people even wanted to use the capsule on the spot and say goodbye to it with the world. However, the developers have not yet received the appropriate permits to make it available to interested parties.
Visitors in return could see what the whole euthanasia process would look like in a virtual reality world. In the movie above, you can see what it looked like.
The capsule has been entirely made in 3D printing technology and is very easy to use. A person who wants to use it will have to put in a coin and lie down in it. Then he will go through a special psychological test. If this gives the right result, the person will receive a special 4-digit code to trigger the killing procedure.
During it, liquid nitrogen will be released, which will lower the oxygen level in the capsule. Painless death, with a smile on your face, is about to happen in a few minutes. The corpses will later be automatically placed in the coffin attached to the capsule, and then they will be picked up by the funeral company cooperating with the artist.
The capsule is intended to be reusable, so after a few minutes after the suicide death, another person can use it. Nietschke argues that the Sarco Project is another step on the road to rationalism and the possibility of full self-determination. Since liquid nitrogen is not a legally prohibited substance in all countries, the capsule can be legally used anywhere in the world.
