We all have watched television, unlike the internet without any lag or buffering, we can watch any channel as per our requirement, but do we know how it works?
Let me give you a brief explanation of the evolution of tv signals, and their working,
They are divided into 4 types:
- Broadcast television
- cable television
- Satellite television
- IP television
a) If we take a look at small towns we can see huge towers, these towers are used to broadcast signal, and we sitting at home could twist the small antenna available at our home, and would receive the signals, by which we could watch television. It had its own limitation, signal could be spread by the huge towers to town or small city.
b) Then came the cable television, there were long cables that were being given to everyone’s home, were these antenna were not required. Even cable television has its own limitation, that was coverage similar to broadcast television, if the person was in an isolated place, it would be difficult to get a cable till there and the maintenance would we really high.
c) Then came the era of satellites, where we used Geo synchronous satellite, these satellites are perfectly aligned with the earth and never lose their position, now that we use DirecTV, Dish network etc, we would have small dish for our self over our home, dish received signal from the satellite and satellite receive signal from the broadcast station present on the earth. In general the dishes that are placed above our home are parabolic dishes, the signals are focused on the center of the dishes, there is a devices which on the dish, this passes the signals to the setup box and over there the signals are decoded, and it can be seen on your television.
d) Now lets come to IP TV, We just see a wire coming into our home and that wire has tv signals, internet and even our landline uses that same wire. This technology is gaining popularity growing really fast, as it’s an all in one option.
This is all about tv signals guys, I hope you loved it.
