Humans have often wondered about the existence of God.
After centuries of scientific developments, humans, eventually developed a self-propelled AI bot more intelligent than humans.
The first question they asked was --
"Is there a God?"
The bot replied --
"There is now."
These are Stephen Hawkings' words, one of his fictional AI-related plots he talked about in his 'Last Week Tonight with John Oliver' interview.
The debate surrounding an 'AI god' is up in the air again following Google's self-driving car team member Anthony Levandowski's arguments that humans will eventually create an AI that is more intelligent than we are, making it functionally god-like.
No, we're not talking about a plot of some science-fiction TV show. Many people in the valley believe in singularity. Even the Tesla co-founder, Elon Musk, recently said that "AI is highly likely to destroy humans".
My opinion -- is it really worth it to worry about singularity when we have more problems related to AI at the moment? At present, most people interact with AI on a daily basis. The self-propelled algorithms of Facebook, Google, and like are influencing our day-to-day lives, even our elections.
A god-like AI isn't gonna pop up tomorrow and take over the world, but what really needs to be discussed is how algorithm bias continues to plague many systems and applications that we use on a regular basis.
How close are we to reaching singularity? Well, nobody has the perfect answer to this question. But at present, how better can we integrate AI and use it for the betterment of mankind should be the real point of discussion.
Healthcare, transportation, marketing, customer services, and ERP are some of the fields that seek integrity to AI. Most of these fields already rely on artificial intelligence to generate analytics and like.
AI will, indeed, take away many of our present jobs.
It won't take all of our jobs tho, but most of those that are done by humans today -- primarily labour jobs. However, a point which should be noted is that AI taking our jobs does sound scary -- for those infected -- but has always gone hand-to-hand with economic development.
Do you agree with Musk's concerns regarding AI? I'd love to hear your views on "AI taking over the world".
Welcome to steemit. I enjoyed the post. I have been thinking about this the last few days because I saw a video of a robot jumping and doing back flips. You see it?
I agree with this paragraph you shared.

I saw that video, it was impressive. Have you seen the one about the Saudi Arabia AI that was granted citizenship? Combined both the body with that mind and the work force is going to be wildly altered. It's crazy to think what will happen when economies of scale are applied to robotics and AI. Hopefully the future will be less focused on busy work and more on self actualization.

I'll have to check it out.

Thank you for reading. I did saw that video, it's really fascinating to see the leaps we're taking in bringing it to life.

I like to think that humans and AI are destine to merge. Already computers have changed the way people think not only socially but physically. Consider that it is easier to remember where files are located rather than what is in them. Our brains are already adapting to the changes technology has brought us.
Furthermore, evolution has already been massively altered via medicine, birth control and numerous other advancements. Considering technology has been altering mankind for quite some time, I see no reason for it to stop now. In the future the alteration will likely be more radical. I see super humans emerging along side AI.

Agreed. AI and humans can work wonders together.

it is already destroying us in some or the other way. take for example our health and our environment. the future is even bleak.
