Apple is being accused of ‘racism’ after Chinese users reported iPhone X’s failure to recognize Chinese faces. Increasing users of iPhone in China have reported the phone’s inability to recognize their faces and allowing anyone to access the phone through facial recognition feature.
In the first reported cases, a son was able to access his mother’s phone using facial recognition due to similarity in their looks. In another incident, one woman was able to unlock her colleague’s phone despite the fact that they were not related, having different haircuts and features.
When the first cases were reported, Apple said such an occurrence was ‘impossible’.
