Google to shutdown its URL shortening service (goo.gl)

Google has announced that it will be discontinuing its URL shortening service "goo.gl" on March 20th, 2019.

The service was launched back in 2009 and since its launched it has grew so much in popularity that many alternatives companies have emerged and offering similar services to users who require them.

The decision behind the discontinuation of its url shortening service is that Google wants to push developers towards Firebase Dynamic Links (FDL). Read below

The good news is that all your existing goog.gl links will continue to work and be redirected to the intended site. It is just that you will not be able to create new links through "goog.gl".

We still have a one-year period time to use the service but you may have to find an alternative service soon.
