Recently, I discovered that people don't really know what they should consider while attempting to buy a new or a fairly used mobile phone.. Below are the things that you might want to consider while attempting to purchase a mobile phone.
THE PRICE
Normally, you shouldn't buy a phone you cannot afford. Obviously, "you cannot buy a phone you cannot afford". Yet the price of the phone you wish to purchase should be put into consideration. Some phones are so cost without having a special quality for their prices except to act as an "oppression" for people using lesser phones. An example is a phone like "Vertu Signature Touch For Bently" which has a price range of about $9000 upwards.
You will only want to buy a phone like this if you are super rich. And trust me people might not even know the value since is neither common nor popular. Another thing about the price is your own finiacial status. I bet you wouldn't want to buy a phone of about $500 when you earn $200 in 6 months. Even though you might be able to take a loan and purchase it. It wouldn't worth it. By the way, people might judge your financial situation with the kind of phone you are holding and in that case asking for loan may seem impossible.
THE SPEED
A phone speed is mainly based on two things
The RAM (random acess memory)
2.The processorThe ram ensures that you are able to install as much as possible apps in the same phone at once. It also makes it possible to access numerous applications at the same time without reloading the previous ones. If you need a phone that will be fast and at the same time operate normally, I will recommend going with the one with 3gb ram because usually, "the higher the ram, the hotter the phone while it operates."
The processor: The processor is like the CPU of the mobile device. The gigahertz ratings of the processor (clock-speed) usually matters for most android phones but for a phone like Apple, It might not. Obviously, higher processor means higher speed.
The specifications of your phone can be gotten by using apps such as "Android system info" and "Quadrant"
THE BATTERY
Usually in developing countries such as Nigeria where there is no stable power supply, you would need a mobile phone that can last you for a day or more with intensive usage. The capacity of batteries is usually measured in "mAh" meaning "milliampere hour". The higher the "mAh" the stronger the battery. That is the more power the battery will store. It doesn't really mean that the battery will last longer. An example is a phone like "Infinix note4 pro" and "infininx note 4" the "pro" has a battery capacity of "4500mAh" while the note4 has about "4000mAh" yet that of "note 4" still last more than "infinix note 4 pro". This is due to the differences in the ram of the two devices. The "pro" has a ram of 3gb which makes it hotter while you are using it intensively. As a result it loses heat to the surrounding.
So phones like Samsung with smaller battery capacities are usually not made for countries without stable electricity or countries without a close place to buy a power bank. Yet those phones are still commonly used. Maybe because they have a very nice display or maybe because they are flexible. The flexibility is usually proportional to the battery capacity. Usually, the higher the "mAh" the heavier the phone. So if you plan on using a flexible phone with less battery capacity, remember "the remaining weight is that of the power bank you are holding!"
YOUR OCCUPATION
This is also very important when deciding the kind of phone you need. Students usually require more sophisticated phones than most parents because they need it for all sort of sophisticated things. The kind of work people do should affect the kind of phone they use. An example is a mechanic using a very flashy phone like iphone 7. His work might require him to be under the car, if accidentally, the phone drops and the screen cracks.. ( I assume we all know its best to throw the phone away than to repair its screen.
Other things to consider are:
The screen size.
The portability .
The camera quality.
