WhatsApp announced on Thursday (25) a change in the way it deals with user data, in order to share information with Facebook. The social network owns the messenger, considered the most popular application in Brazil. The change is related to an update in terms of WhatsApp service, that set of legal rules that all Internet users agree to install the program.
According to WhatsApp, this is the first time the terms of use and privacy are changed in the last four years. Understand what changes for you.
Share with Facebook
The image you see below depicts a message that users WhatsApp will receive from now on smartphones with Android and iPhone (iOS). It is in this way that WhatsApp will ask permission to link the mobile number with the Facebook profile.
Users who do not want to share the data will have "up to 30 days to decide if they would like to agree and continue using WhatsApp." WhatsApp clarified to TechTudo that is no longer possible to reject the change after the 30 days end. In addition, new users will be required to accept the new privacy policy and terms of use to use the application - they have no choice.
The integration of WhatsApp with Facebook will allow the social network to know "how often people use our application and we can also be more effective in the fight against spam." The change in the terms of service will also provide "best friend suggestions and more relevant ads" on Facebook.
The logic is as follows: to exchange messages with a store by WhatsApp, the possibility of seeing an advertisement from this store on Facebook increases. In addition to social networking, data sharing may also apply to other applications maintained by Facebook, as Instagram and MSQRD.
The Office pointed out that WhatsApp will not display advertising banner style - as advertising images seen on the internet pages - the messenger windows. "For example, you can receive notifications about the status of the flight of your trip, a receipt for a purchase you made, or a notification so that a delivery has been made. Marketing messages that you may receive may contain offers something that interests you, "said the official documentation of the application.

Encryption and Privacy
While exploring the user data to generate more revenue for Facebook, WhatsApp says it remains committed to the protection of messages sent to friends and groups. The end to end encryption is enabled in the first half of 2016 and prevents WhatsApp itself, Facebook and third parties to intercept the content of text messages, images or video.
"We also will not sell, share or provide your phone number for advertisers," says the note.
