Vintage Criterion Telescope Rescued from the Trash

As an amateur astronomer, I love looking to the night sky and "discovering" what's out there. I'm also a gear head so I can never have enough Astro equipment.
Last year during the city spring trash pickup, my son in law came in and said "There's a big telescope across the street for trash pickup." Naturally, I said "Let's go get it!" We did and this is what I brought home.
