I love it when a plan comes together. The A-Team turns 35 Today.

Today marks the 35th anniversary of the debut of the television show The A-Team.

"In 1972, a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire... the A-Team."

  • John Ashley's opening narration.

I heard about this on the radio today. I had to make a post in celebration.

The A_Team was one of my favorite shows when I was a kid. It had everything you could want for entertaining tv : gun fights, car chases, fist fights, pretty ladies, a badass Mr. T. Nearly every episode followed the same basic plot but I couldn't have cared less. There's too much reality on tv today. When I want reality I'll leave the house and experience it myself. I watch tv to take some time to escape real life.

The main cast of The A-Team. H.M. "Howlin' Mad" Murdock (Dwight Schultz) with the ball cap, B. A. Baracus (Mr T.) with the gold chains, John "Hannibal" Smith (George Peppard) with the cigar and Templeton "Faceman" Peck (Dirk Benedict).

Like any show that had success in the past, Hollywood eventually got around to making an A-Team movie in 2010. Ugh. The cast was what made the show, when you use different actors it isn't the same. Fox has been talking about rebooting the series, but it will suffer the same fate. Classics need to be left alone. The A-Team is a classic. Not in a shakespearean sense, but a classic of action and adventure. And good old fashioned violence with no regards to political correctness.

I love the original A-Team! I also enjoyed similar ones like McGuiver, and Knight Rider. Great post! Thanks Chops.

Thanks Amos. I used to watch Knight Rider too back in the day.

The A-Team and Knight Rider were 80s TV staples. The 21st-century reboot of the latter was... not good. You'd think studio execs would learn.

Studio execs never learn.

"I pity the fool"!

Gotta love Mr. T.

This was such an awesome show. The movie did a fairly decent job as well, but there's never going to be a B.A. Baracus like Mr. T!

No way anyone could replace Mr. T. He was pretty good as Clubber Lang in Rocky 3 as well.

That is true! I always forget about him in that role until I see the movie again.. it's admittedly not one of the better movies in the Rocky series..

What! Eye of the tiger man, eye of the tiger.
