‘Temple In The Sky’
St. George, Utah Mormon Temple
People keep asking me, how I got this shot of the St. George, UT LDS temple with the fog like that. Well it was quite the adventure, let me tell you about it!
I have been wanting to get my photography business going after years of doing web development and working from home for 11 years. I happened to get my camera from one of my clients who purchased it for me for working on their website and keeping it updated with new local event team sport shots of the football team they where sponsoring. I didn't really know what I was doing. Though game after game, shot after shot, I started to get better at taking pictures. Most importantly it made my heart sing. After that project was finished, I let that go for a few years and my camera started to gather up dust while I was pursuing other clients projects. I had another client that needed some video's created and that starting me wanting to get out my camera. I was also feeling how wonderful it would be to let go of my web development business and go towards what excited me more which was photography.
About that same time, my best friends and I where writing down things we appreciate, desire, and 'wouldn't it be nice to be, do, and accomplish'. We called it our abundant prosperity list. On the night of Dec 13th, 2014. (Which happens to be my best friends birthday.) I wrote, "I am ready to start my photography business and have award winning shots." Morning of the 14th, I woke up 4:20 a.m. I had a feeling from within that prompted me to get my Cannon EOS 30D and take pictures. I didn't know what I was going to do but I got ready and packed up my gear and I was on my way to my new photography business adventure. I hadn't done anything like this before. I didn't even know where to start or what direction I was going to go.
I just started to listen to my heart and the thought came to me I might go towards Gunlock reservoir, when on my drive in that direction I saw a little cloud cover over the St. George Temple on my way and thought “OMYGosh, I have got to watch this!” that was around 6 a.m. (The first picture below, is what I saw at that time, that made me stop. – the other pictures I just added to share with you more of my anticipation of that journey.)

I sat there until 8 a.m. watching as the fog made the temple and St. George City completely disappear in a thick blanket of clouds below where I had set up my camera and video equipment.
It wasn't until the last 5 minutes when the sun started to melt away the top of the fog and shine on the temple highest point. It was exciting and breath taking to witness and to realize I got some of the most thrilling pictures I have taken so far. I couldn’t wait to see what my camera had captured, because what I saw was spectacular whether or not any pictures even came out.

I get thrill bumps every time I think about this moment and realize that because of my desire to start my photography business I was able to see this and share it with others. And that feels so good! One of the Best Day's Ever! I will never forget it nor will I ever ignore that prompting when it tells me to go take pictures. It works for me every single time. What an amazing adventure I have been on ever since. I look forward to sharing more photography adventures with you here.
Thank you for being apart of this adventure with me.
