Temporary Setbacks Or Permanent Failure?

The question is, do temporary setbacks make you a failure? Many of us suffer from setbacks, and often, we feel that we have no control over them. Others agonize over past events and never realize that they are not within their control. Many people continue to relive painful memories of the past, and fail to see them as lessons and tools for future success. The solution to these problems is to view the past as a learning opportunity and build on it.

Most setbacks are temporary, meaning they only slow progress but do not hinder it. Most often, these setbacks are caused by roadblocks or scrambling, not by the failure itself. But the real question is, should you give up and allow these setbacks to defeat you? In order to find out the answer to this question, take a look at yourself and your past performance. Have you experienced any of these setbacks? If so, what were you doing to overcome them?

Adversity may also occur within your organization. For example, a tree might fall across the road, requiring you to stop your car and move the tree in time. The children, however, may have a hard time adjusting to the unexpected and will be late for school, which will further delay the inevitable. But, you must remember the true purpose of your organization: to serve the community. When facing adversity, do not lose sight of your mission and vision and continue pursuing it until the situation has been resolved.
