Ohh Yes I had a couple of tanks a few years back, well decades back LOL, I had a big 300 Gallon Tank that i had in storage for many years that my long term goal was to set it up as a tropical tank, but n the endI had it sold off would not have been worth it to ship fromNZ to here

Oh yeah, I bet shipping on a tank that huge would have been more than buying a new one...
My biggest is only 110gal, but someday I want a 300. I want to get a couple of clown knife fish. I used to have 2 that I inherited from someone getting rid of their 55, but of course, they get much too large for that, (3ft!)and I ended up selling them to a local fish store.

I don’t thinkI will ever go that big again but would love to setup between a 55 and 120 Reef tank someday but thats no cheap project LO

That would be awesome!! You're right, that is NOT a cheap endeavor! I've never tried salt water before, but someday I'd like to give it a try!

I am doing a little research here and there so that if or when I start one i have ideas of what to do as its a lot more work to manage a salt water tank but worth it for the cool environments you can make

I am thinking of somewhere around a 30 to 60 Gallon Tank at this stage, but even setting up that size I would imagine could easily set me back $1500

I imagine so! Any salt setup I have looked at has been super pricey! One of the main reasons I have never tried it... If Im going to drop a lot of money on a hobby, I feel like Id rather get a larger tank for the same price... but then I AM missing out on all the cool things you can do with a salt tank. The creatures you can get are amazing! I hope you make a post about it if you DO set one up, Id love to check it out and dream of the day I finally get one! ;)

I have some sweet talking to do to convince my wife its a good idea to spend that much on a tank, not sure if I will succeed so time wlll tell its a long term plan if I do one I suspect it is probably 2 years away , but if I do one i will for sure do posts about it s it goes
