The augmented World of Monochrome

Everbody knows that monochrome means one color used in different values and shades...mostly applied to black/white images. All those shades of grey not only make a great book title, but also contribute to add contrast and drama to the images, creating their own world of emotional energy.
Of course there are other single tone colors possible, sepia is an example or blue etc.
Supposing that the traditional artist is not colorblind, he makes a choice if he works in monochrome from the very beginning of his work.

Speaking only for myself and working with digital tools, normally I don't start working in black/white, ( exception made if I know from the start that the work will only be used in b/w mode), but once the work is finished I might switch to the black/white mode just to have a look at this alternative...and it happens that in the end the b/w image has my preference.

Nevertheless one has to say that switching from color to the machine made b/w version isn't enough...it still needs the touch of the human hand and soul to make this monochrome world alive and work on the nuances that allow you to express this wide variety of emotions.
