DONA MARY
Mrs. Maria, owner of a local in the market "El Tepe" is a person with a very interesting story. She married at the age of 17 and had seven wonderful children. According to Doña Mary's experience, it was a little difficult to get all her children off the ground because when she was young, her husband wouldn't let her study because her husband said that women only took care of their children and did the homework. She never went to school and said,"I only went to kindergarten, but to leave my daughters.
In spite of that, Doña Mary has always liked commerce and has been working since an early age. One of the great tips Doña Mary gave us was:"If you don't study, get to work. Otherwise, you're useless." From his point of view, raising 7 children is not easy, it takes many hours of work and dedication. She had to make several sacrifices to be a good mother. She told us that many times she would take them to the market so that she could work and at the same time take care of them.
In addition to being a very strong and hard-working woman, she also told us a little about her independence. Many of the ladies her age depended heavily on the husband's work, but in this case it was a little different. While her husband was in charge of the other businesses, Doña Mary first brought the merchandise from Mexico. All this was in a truck until the supplier began to bring the merchandise to Queretaro.
The first family business was in Celaya and then extended to Queretaro. Her husband refused to support her while she worked every day in order to inherit good business from her daughter. Of his 7 children, now one is an engineer and the other a graduate in administration. She told us about her children's lives with great joy because, as we have already mentioned, she was not given the opportunity to study and made great efforts to raise good human beings.
Another piece of advice that we were very impressed with was the fact of taking advantage of the opportunities that women have today. Mary's experiences are a clear example of the fact that before, women did not have the same opportunities as men. She encouraged her daughters to study and although some of them have taken different paths, that is to say, they have preferred to work, they are still active. One thing he told us with great emotion is that even his granddaughters are studying high school.
Doña Mary's desire and willingness for 38 years in her business are incomparable. It takes a lot of hard work as she told us. Although several of the places around her never open anymore, she opens every day of the year because it is the only way to bring her family forward. Doña Mary is definitely an example to follow. He showed us that even if people put barriers in your way, you can jump over them and get ahead. On the other hand, in business, there will always be ups and downs but the key is not to give up.
After about half an hour of a very interesting conversation, we were able to get to know a little bit about the life of Doña Mary, whom we thank very much for her trust and time. We became a very struggling and independent woman. Definitely an example to follow.
