Game Spotlight: Terraria

Game spotlight:

Game spotlight is a series of short blogs I will post regularly on my page, the idea is to cover all types of small and indie games across all platforms that I think are great fun to play and are not too expensive. I personally love playing games made by small studios and independent creators because they tend to be more unique, so you are often in for a lot of surprises.

Terraria

Terraria is a 2D action-adventure sandbox game, you can play single or multiplayer although multiplayer servers are generally favoured.

Terraria as a whole is all about building and exploring, the idea is relatively similar to the game Starbound which I have spoken about before, however rather than exploring multiple planets in Terraria you stay on one planet so there is more in the aspect of building up a base and slowly upgrading your character.

The game itself doesn't have any set characters, instead you can either chose what you want them to look like or just set it to randomize. The game however does have 26 different NPC's:

Guide

Merchant

Nurse

Each NPC does what you would expect, the guide is your basic guide when you start the game, the merchant buys and sells goods and so on.

There are also quite a few different bosses to defeat, each boss spawn will be caused by different factors for example; night time, amount of health, activating an item and more. Each boss will take a lot to defeat and will drop some type of reward for beating them.

Terraria is just one of those games you can play for hours in one session or for just play a little every now and then and still have a lot of fun with it because it you won't really get rusty. Also because the game is all about building up your base, resources, and character you can do that at whatever pace you want and if you do stop playing for a while it's not like you will fall behind.
