The firemen who intervened on September 11 after the collapse of the Twin Towers. This picture was taken by Thomas E Franklin.
On September 11, 2001, the deployment of men was impressive, as were the losses suffered by the body of the firefighters: 343 fallen, in no time, as many as those who disappeared in an entire century.
In the eyes of the world, firefighters in New York have become heroes: they were on the top of both skyscrapers, trying to save as many innocent lives trapped in that unreal hell of fire and smoke, to jeopardize their own Life to honor the worn uniform. The firefighters were running to the towers as everyone moved away trying to get safe.
