FBI documents on Tesla, who all was there to take the papers when he died? What's up with the date discrepancy and How About That Invisible Chinese Wall?

in tesla •  6 years ago

In a Business Insider article from 2017 it refers to one of Tesla's inventions,

the "death ray" he described to Time Magazine in 1934, yet kept relatively quiet about.

The government did not forget this and was "vitally interested" in Tesla's unpublished research during a time of war and Soviet espionage. So after Tesla died in the New Yorker Hotel the evening of January 7, 1943, "his papers [...] were temporarily seized by the Department of Justice Alien Property Custodian Office ('alien' in this case means 'foreigner,' although Tesla was a US citizen)," according to the FBI, (perhaps because he was of Serbian descent, born and raised in the Austrian empire, but he became a naturalized citizen so something isn't adding up with their "justification" they pass off as an explanation.

Investigators and specialists examined the documents, recorded them on microfilm, wrote up reports, and added the material to their existing dossier on Tesla. The FBI waited decades to declassify the papers, releasing 250 pages of them as early as 2011.

I'm going to be honest with you, "I Don't Know!

I am used to pouring over documentation concerning all manner of evil happening to children, and I know Hoover was rather nefarious when you poke around into his actual history, But What IS THIS?

This is on page 3 of the same document,

Check out first column, first paragraph,

Where it says in this 1940 NYT article where Tesla speaks of a teleforce plan in which he stands ready to divulge to the U.S. government his secret of technology where,

airplane motors would be melted at a distance of 250 miles so that an invisible Wall of Defense would be built around the country against any attempted attack by an enemy force no matter how large.

The teleforce is based on an entirely knew principle of physics that no one has ever dreamed about.

Different from the principles embodied in his inventions relating to the transmission of electrical power from a distance from which he has received a number of basic patents.

This type of force would operate through a beam one one hundred millionth of a square centimeter in diameter and could be generated from a special plant that would cost no more than 2,000,000 and would take only about 3 months to construct.

According to Wizzley,

Sava Kosanovich was Tesla's nephew and heir, he also had strong ties to the communist party. The day after Tesla died, Kosanovich entered Tesla's residential hotel room reportedly to look for a will. Kosanovich gained access to the room by three representatives from the Hotel New Yorker while accompanied by Tesla's longtime friend, Kenneth Sweezey, custodians from the Office of Alien Property, and representatives of the Yugoslavian consulate.

In the letter to J. Edgar Hoover dated June 25, 1955, Mr. Sweezey is sure of at least one item missing from Tesla's effects. Hoover replied as having no knowledge of what was in or possibly taken from Tesla's safe.

Now How handy is that? Clark is employed by RCA. I find this rather interesting because I remembered when studying the Bush family a couple of years ago, they had a connection with some holdings in CBS. So it got me going down a rabbit hole while looking over these de-classified documents on the FBI and I came upon this rather interesting article.

The Story Behind The CBS & RCA/NBC Color Feud

Article states,

These screen shots are from a color special that aired June 21, 1951 when CBS embarked on a four and an half month test of their Field Sequential System. The last commercial CBS Color System broadcast was the North Carolina-Maryland football game on October 20, 1951 and was in fact, the first college football game done in color.

On June 25, 1951 regularly scheduled commercial colorcasts began on CBS on a five-station East Coast network. More than 10.5 million monochrome sets in the U-S, were blind to these telecasts. The CBS colorcasts were stillborn….

The RCA delaying tactic you’ll read about below had been successfully fatal to the CBS Color System. CBS had first broadcast its Field Sequential Color System as early as August 28, 1940. Their 1949 Color System was the third field sequential approach to be proposed to the FCC for adoption. They had suggested that their field sequential standards be adopted in 1941 and 1946. At those earlier times, with few black and white receivers in the hands of the public, the adoption of the CBS system might have been feasible. Remember, their system used spinning red, blue and green discs behind the camera lens and in front of the home receiver’s picture tube.

At the conclusion of the color hearings in 1950, there was much pressure by the color television proponents for the FCC to immediately adopt a color standard. On September 1, 1950, the FCC issued its First Report on Color Television Issues (Public Notice 50-1064) in which it deferred the adoption of a standard. The FCC in its October 11, 1950 Second Report on Color Television Issues (Public Notice 50-1224), formally adopted the CBS system as the USA standard for color television.

October 17. 1950, brought suit against the FCC in the Federal District Court in Chicago to halt the start of CBS colorcasts. After the court upheld the FCC order, RCA appealed to the Supreme Court which, on May 28, 1951, affirmed the lower court ruling in favor of CBS. RCA effectively delayed the initiation of the CBS system, allowing the continued sale of even more black and white sets which could not receive the CBS signals.

You can read the sequence of events to see just How this affected CBS, but at the end. . .

Two years later, during a Congressional hearing on March 25, 1953, CBS announced that it had no plans to resume its color system. The NPA lifted its ban on color receiver manufacturing the next day! It was now the obligation of the television industry to band together to devise an acceptable compatible color television standard. RCA’s Dot Sequential System won and this story is why there has been “bad blood” between CBS and RCA/NBC from that point on.
