1 + 1 = 3

in tetrahedron •  6 years ago

This diagram illustrates the shortcoming of Arabic/ Hindu numbers . It also illustrates the concept of synergy. 1 + 1 = 3 Or we can say combined energies output more energy than their individual energies. If we take 1 tetrahedron and deconstruct it and join it with another tetrahedron, we have different outcomes, either 2 tetrahedron with 3 edges remaining, or 3 tetrahedrons. How can we describe this? If I say 1 + 1 = 3 that doesn't make sense, and yet that's exactly whats happening here. This also illustrate irrational numbers, how can we have 3 edges remaining and not something "whole"? This requires some sort of mathematical notation where the quantity of 1 is made of 6 components.tetra.jpg
