Final Rehearsal of the Late King Rama 9th's Funeral Processions : การซักซ้อมริ้วขบวนพระบรมราชอิสริยยศ

This is the official drone recording of the final rehearsal of the funeral processions of the late King Rama 9th, HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej, the beloved King of Thailand. People have started arriving from provinces in the countryside since last week to pay their last respect at the Royal Funeral. Some of them have been here since the earlier rehearsals of the funeral processions which took place either very early in the morning or late in the evening.

More people have been arriving during the last two days and I noticed many people dressed in black during my train journey. From their conversations I could tell that they were preparing to camp out on the footpath along the route of the processions. The Royal Funeral will begin on Thursday 26th October in the afternoon, with the royal procession of the coffin from the Grand Palace. There will be several processions forming a long line of various groups of related royalties, the royal staff, the military and high ranking civil servants. So, the whole ceremonial procession would take a few hours to reach the crematorium (Phra Meru Mas).

One of my friends is in the third procession, since he is related to one line of the royalty. He has been rehearsing in the procession for the past two weeks, sometimes at 4 am! Unfortunately, I will not be around Bangkok on this Thursday. I could not change my schedule as things have been fixed in advance. I could imagine that there will be lots of tears and crying in Bangkok and at all the official places for people to lay their Thai funeral flowers (Dok Mai Jan). There would be at least eight official places for this purpose around Bangkok and each province will have a model of the royal crematorium for people to lay their funeral flowers too. The whole land will be in tears and the sound of crying would be much louder and sadder than at Siriraj hospital where the late King lived till his last day.

ช่วงสองสัปดาห์ที่ผ่านมา ประชาชนจำนวนมากได้เริ่มเดินทางเข้ามายังกรุงเทพเพื่อมาชมการซ้อมของริ้วขบวน บ้างก็มาสมัครเป็นจิตอาสาเพื่องานนี้ หลายคนเริ่มมาปักหลักจับจองพื้นที่ริมถนนเพื่อจะได้อยู่ใกล้ริ้วขบวนให้มากที่สุด ในกรุงเทพเองได้มีการจัดให้มีพระเมรุมาศจำลอง 8 แห่งเพื่อให้ประชาชนในท้องที่ได้มาวางดอกไม้จันทน์ และในแต่ละจังหวัดจะมีสถานที่และพระเมรุมาศจำลองเพื่อทำพิธีในเวลาเดียวกันด้วย

น่าเสียดายที่จะไม่ได้อยู่ในกรุงเทพในวันสำคัญ แต่ก็คาดเดาได้ว่าผู้คนจะรํ่าไห้โสกาอาดูร นํ้าตาจะนองแผ่นดิน เพียงแค่คิดก็ต้องอดกลั้นความเศร้าโศกเสียใจอย่างมาก ทุกแห่งหนจะเต็มไปด้วยความเศร้า ประชนชนจักต้องเรียนรู้การหักห้ามใจและการปล่อยวางอย่างแสนสาหัส ประวัติศาสตร์ของไทยจะต้องจารึก วันพระราชพิธีถวายพระเพลิงไว้ตลอดชั่วกาลนาน
