Holidays in Phuket: What the Thai tourist stronghold has to offer

in thai •  7 years ago

Many people know it as the "Mallorca of the Far East" and it is not without reason. Similar to the island in the Mediterranean Sea, Phuket in Thailand is firmly in the hands of tourists. Nevertheless or just because of that the island has a lot to offer.

See and experience Thailand

Great views, beautiful landscapes and quiet corners can be found all over Phuket. It is Thailand's largest island and is visited by about one million tourists every year. In order for them to really enjoy their holiday in Thailand, Phuket is very well developed and especially at Patong Beach entertainment is provided. There are numerous hotels, restaurants, clubs, shops and brothels. For sports fans, bungee jumping, parasailing, jet skiing, kayaking and wakeboarding are available, and animal lovers can visit crocodile and snake farms or go horseback riding on elephants.

Apart from sun worshippers, motorcyclists can also find their paradise on holidays in Phuket - the coastal roads meander through the mountains and lead to dreamlike and above all lonely, almost deserted places. There are really beautiful views, for example, in Laem Phrompthep, from where you have a beautiful view of the sea and the offshore islands at the southern tip of Phuket. If you want to get to know the Thai culture, you are right in the so-called hinterland of the island, where the price level changes suddenly.
In Phuket City there is also a beautiful little town centre, which can be combined with a visit to Khao Rang, a small hill north of the centre. From here you have a good view of the city's surroundings. Also worth a visit is the modern aquarium of the marine biology research centre at the tip of Cape Phanwa. The pearl island "Naga Noi Island" is located off the north coast of Phuket and can be reached by boat in about 20 minutes. On site, interested people learn everything about pearls and can of course buy them.
Also worth seeing are the remains of the tropical rainforest near Thalang, Phang Nga Bay with the famous "James Bond Rock" from the movie "The man with the golden gun", the palm huts of the sea gypsies on the beach of Rawai in the village Chao Lay as well as the Thai Village north of Phuket.

Travel to Thailand

The island of Phuket is about 680 km (airline) away from the Thai capital Bangkok and is about 50 km long and 22 km wide. If you want to travel to Thailand, you can use different airlines, some of which also offer direct flights to Phuket. In addition, there are daily flights to and from Bangkok and there are bus and train connections from the capital. The island is connected to the mainland by the Sarasani bridge. On Phuket itself there is a taxi mafia, which ensures that apart from the overpriced TUC TUC and motorcycle taxis, no transport system can develop.
