$4 BBQ ribs can't possibly be good, right?

I will admit that I haven't exactly embraced the Thai cuisine. More often than not if I am ordering what I truly want to have for meals, I will opt for western food over Thai food. It isn't that I don't like Thai food, or even that I am afraid of the spice... I simply prefer western food and a lot of expats feel the same way.

Recently, I was walking around and I saw this advertisement.

I'm always a bit apprehensive of advertisements in Thailand or anywhere really. The picture in many instances is not at all a representation of what it is that you actually end up getting on your plate in the end. But 139B is just over $4 so I figured it wasn't going to be the end of the world if it wasn't fantastic.

I think I found a real gem here

This is an actual photo of my plate that I received. I was a little afraid because of the fact that the food arrived really quickly - like too fast. I felt like there was no way they had enough time to prepare them properly and half expected the sauce to be mostly ketchup. I was delightfully surprised to find out that they were "fall off the bone" delicious and the sauce, although not perfect, was damn close.

We ordered a bunch of side dishes that included garlic bread with cheese and mashed potatoes and all of these were served lightning fast and were cheap and were delicious. I'm not really understanding the economics of this establishment but to be fair the shop was really busy so it must be a question of volume for them.

For the most part, western food has an amazing opportunity to be disappointing in this country but last night this was not the case. So if you see a sign where ribs (or whatever) are exceptionally cheap, it might not be a terrible idea to just go ahead and dive in. You might find a real winner and even if you don't, you are only out a couple bucks anyway.
