A Huge THANK YOU to the Steemit Community for Supporting Taqanu!

Last week, I undertook an experiment to see if I could raise money and attention for a really cool blockchain project my friend Balázs is working to help refugees on called Taqanu. The idea was to create a series of posts, first about just the project and then some of my usual travel & adventure-type posts featuring me and my friend, and donate the amount of my earnings on the posts to support his work on the project.

I call this an experiment because it was my first time trying to promote a cause I believe in, and I wanted to see what kind of response I would get from the Steemit community to see if this is something I can do a lot more of - I'd really like to and already have some other projects in mind.

To describe the response in a word: UNBELIEVABLE

Here is a final summary of the posts and results (some of these are still open for voting but I am taking the current results here):

As you can see, the results varied by post, but all together that's $81.06 raised! The price surge of STEEM sure helped of course, but this is because of YOU - Steemit community.

After chipping in a personal donation on top, I was able to send Balázs 900 Norwegian kroner - equal to about $106 based on current exchange rates:

The transfer - done in NOK since we both have Norwegian bank accounts and it was the easiest way to do so. Next time will be in STEEM I hope, once I've talked Balázs into joining!

In addition to the monetary part, I was also very appreciative of the positive response received in the comments, particularly in the intro post. Thanks for that as well!

I made a concerted effort to be active within the Steemit community the past week (upvoting and commenting others as well), and this helped me achieve personal milestones of 200 followers and 300 posts. But, as you can see below, I didn't just achieve these milestones, but far exceeded them already! I can't believe I grew by over 50 followers in this time - amazing!
