This fun kids kids book tells us all about the very first Thanksgiving Day. The pilgrims are surrounding a table with all the delicious foods they have gathered during this harvest season to enjoy a feast together on this first Thanksgiving Day. The Indians are skillful and strong and have taught the pilgrims how to live through the winters and gather food to survive in this new world. The Pilgrims are farming the land and learn from the Indians how to plant food and harvest it to eat for the first Thanksgiving. The Pilgrims have built houses in straight rows to create a small town in this new land. At the harbor there is a large stone marking where the ships should anchor themselves as they arrive at the shoreline. As we continue to read aloud together, we see the Mayflower ship in full sail as it weathers the rough seas and wind and hail to come into the harbor in this new world. As we continue to read along, we see the ocean which can sometimes be a foe and sometimes a friend has it carries the Mayflower across the ocean from England. This new land is where the first Thanksgiving all began as a brave group made ready to start a new life in this land of freedom. To create the environment to enjoy the first Thanksgiving the pilgrims had to learn to survive in this new land and farm this with unfamiliar crops. The Indians taught them which crops to grow and how to care for them so they could survive in this new land. Together, they ate of this food that was gathered and blessed such as corn and sweet berries and a wild turkey to share together on the very first Thanksgiving Day.
