Thank you Contest #1

It was on Instagram.

Browsing through posts on Instagram, I saw a post about a platform which gave you an opportunity to earn from content creation, and attached was link to a Whatsapp group, to learn more.

I joined the group and @emilo talked to me about it. The first time I heard about Steemit, I was sceptical and I took it like another waste of time.

In my defence, I had too many things on my plate and I needed to focus, so I didn’t want to chase nothing to another dead end so I haughtily told him I will think about it.

I remember his argument, “But it’s free, what do you have to lose?”

But as I said, I was thinking about how to get out of debts and here was this man talking about wasting my time in an apparently worthless pursuit. So I refused to read up the write-up he sent me about Steemit until someone asked him on the group about her SBD and if she could withdraw it.

I took notice, and then I opened my account and told him so. I also remember his reaction to the information. The funny thing was that he was happy for me.

@emilo is an interesting person who likes to see others progress.

When I joined Steemit and began posting, the first whale I noticed was @jerrybanfield, and I got 12 steem in one of his contests, and he once upvoted me. Throughout that day, I walked on air; my post inspired him enough to give me an upvote!

Another person who has made my journey here worth it is @bycoleman. His posts are like my #steemchurch, and they remind me that I am a Christian and give me Bible verses daily. It’s been long time I read one of those though; I have to check up on him.

One person whom @emilo also brought in with me is @seesladen. This guy is the bomb! His posts speak of inspiration and his story about how Steemit helped him is also great. He has inspired me about life and shown me the gifts in this community.

The Thursday Curation show/channel discussion, which I have with #Promo-Mentors is everything. It has taught me that community moves the world. When we commune, bringing out different views and mindsets, we bond and find reasons to stick around.

#Promo-Mentors gave me that; another reason to stick around.

After @emilo brought us in, he asked us to invite people we wanted to, and I invited about five persons. Of the five persons, @chinyerevivian has made me proud. You should check her out. She is also a genius and I am glad she shares her gift with the Steemit Community.

Steemit has left a mark in my life, and I doubt I can tell my life story without mentioning it.

Steemit is part of my story; without it, my story is incomplete.
