LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - A new telescope has begun to work as part of efforts to discover new worlds, the Chilean Astronomical Observatory said in Chile.

The new system, called "EXTRA" or "exoplanets in transits and their atmospheres", consists of a huge telescope of three small telescopes, each 60 centimeters in diameter, connected to a unified system that transfers data to computers for electronic processing.

According to the Lassila Observatory, France owns the telescope and its system, and will be managed and controlled from a dedicated center in the French city of Grenoble, where the telescope is supposed to discover red dwarf stars, planets and celestial bodies not yet discovered to search for inhabited worlds other than the " .
The Chilean Astronomical Observatory is one of the most important space observatories to follow the Southern Hemisphere, so the Southern European Observatory has contributed to the development of a number of telescopes on its territory.
