It is the character of a woman, which has its origins from the time when Mexico was established, along with the arrival of the Spaniards.
It is said that there was an indigenous woman who had an affair with a Spanish gentleman, the relationship was consummated resulting in three beautiful children, whom the mother cared for in a devout way, making them her adoration.
The days kept running, between lies and shadows, staying hidden from others to enjoy their bond, the woman seeing her family formed, the needs of her children by a full-time Father begins to ask that the relationship be formalized.
The gentleman, dodged it on every occasion, perhaps for fear of what they will say, being a member of society at its highest levels, he thought a lot about the opinion of others and that link with an indigenous woman could affect his status too much.
Some time later, the man left her to marry a Spanish lady of high society. The Indigenous woman found out, hurt by the betrayal and deception, totally desperate, took her three children, taking them to the banks of the river.
He embraced them tightly with the deep love he professed for them, plunged them into it, until he drowned them. To then end his own life by not being able to bear the guilt of the criminal act he had committed.
Since that day, the lament is heard, full of pain of the woman in the river, where this occurred. There are those who say they have seen her wandering desperately searching, with a deep cry of pain and lament crying out for her children.
Guilt does not let her rest, her lament is heard near the main square, who look through their windows, see a woman dressed entirely in white, thin, calling her children and vanishing into Lake Texcoco
