100 DAYS OF STEEM : Day 21 - Community Curators for May 2020steemCreated with Sketch.

in the100daysofsteem •  4 years ago

We are delighted to announce that the first group of Curators for the new Community Curators Project have been selected.

In the end, there were over 50 applications, which was much more we anticipated and hoped for.

We mentioned a couple of days ago that in recognition of the massive interest in the project, we would increase the number of Curators.

To provide for the extra Curators we changed the delegation amounts, but the overall total Steem Power to be allocated to the project will now be twice what was originally planned.

There will be two Curator accounts each with 500,000 Steem Power, and five accounts with 200,000 SP - seven accounts in total.

The Community Curators for May

Thank you to all 51 applicants. There were so many good applications but we have now selected the first seven Curators for the project to run from 1 May to 31 May…

After reading the details below, please would each of the selected Curators confirm their acceptance of the role and the guidelines in a comment by midnight UTC on Monday, April 27. They should also include a contact Discord, Telegram or email address.

Any Curators that haven’t confirmed by then will be replaced by another Curator.

If you know any of the Curators in the list do let them know that they have been selected.

These Curators have been chosen especially to cover a wide range of languages, communities and subjects.

We are looking forward to watching how the project works out and we welcome feedback especially from the Curators.

It was difficult to disappoint so many other fine applicants but new Community Curators will be selected each month, and those unsuccessful this first month will be welcome to reapply for the next round.

Applications for the June selection will open on May 2nd.

Usage of the Community Curator Accounts

The aims of the Community Curator Project are…

  • To reward and encourage the creation of ‘good content’. The definition of good content will be left to the Community Curators to determine in the context of the type of posts and the community/ies in which they are curating.
  • To encourage participation and engagement on Steem. Community Curators are free to vote on and reply to worthwhile comments on posts.

  • To encourage newcomers to Steem with upvotes and helpful comments.

  • To help build any Communities where they are curating.

Each Community Curator account will be given to an individual user, or if the application has been made on behalf of a Community or an App, to a nominated ‘Account Manager’.

For Communities and Apps that Account Manager will be responsible for the usage of the account. They must inform Steemit Inc if they decide to share the keys with any other curators within their community or app.

Guidelines

To ensure ‘best use’ of the Community Curator accounts we will be requesting that users follow a number of strict guidelines…

  • The accounts must not be used for downvoting.

  • The accounts should only be used for upvoting.

  • The accounts should not be used for making posts, only for making curation comments.

  • All votes on posts should be accompanied by a curation comment that includes the line “This post has been rewarded by the Steem Community Curation Project. #communitycurationXY” where XY will be the number of your account.

Monitoring and Rewards

The usage of the Curator accounts will be monitored closely and anyone found misusing them will have their access withdrawn.

We are looking for curators to vote for as wide a range of accounts as possible, rewarding quality posts, particularly those that are not cross-posted on other platforms.

Community Curators should post weekly reports on their curation activities. These weekly posts will be rewarded with a Steemit vote.

The exact format of the weekly reports will be left to the Curators to decide, but they should, at a minimum, include a statement of their Curation goals and assessment of how well they have met those goals in the preceding week.

The reports might also include feedback on the project, and any suggestions for improvement.

They might, if desired, also include some curation statistics and some examples of the best posts that have been curated.

As this will be the first month of the Community Curators project there will likely be some refinements and adjustments as the project progresses.

We hope the Community Curators selected will demonstrate best practice in rewarding quality content, building communities and encouraging good creators to flourish on the Steem platform.

We wish these seven Community Curation pioneers good luck in their curation endeavours.

We are very excited to see the positive results that we hope will flow from this project.

Thank you,

The Steemit Team

Thank you

The Steemit Team

I gratefully acknowledge that I'll be participating and agree to the guidelines.

I don't use telegram or discord much, but you can e-mail me at my steem account (remlaps) at aol dot com.

I look forward to seeing this initiative launch, and also wish to congratulate all of the others who were chosen in the inaugural group of community curators.

We will be in touch later today about the transfer of the key.

Thank you

The Steemit Team

Thanks! I saw in the daily post it said that keys have been transmitted. However, I checked my e-mail and my Steemit wallet (in case you sent it on Steem as an encrypted memo), but I don't see a message in either place yet. (I checked my spam folder, too.) I'll check again in the morning.

BTW, I think the "Look What's On Steem" campaign is a fantastic idea, and focusing on non-crypto content is a really good decision.

Congratulations for your selection for this first stage of the project, @Remlaps!! Certainly I'll be attending your excellent community and work!!
The best wishes for the journey!!

Thank you for the confirmation. We will be in touch shortly.

The Steemit Team

Dear @steemitblog

I'm glad to see that our project has been selected.

Also what is your view on upvoting quality comments (which would promote engagement, not only creating content)?

The exact format of the weekly reports will be left to the Curators to decide, but they should, at a minimum, include a statement of their Curation goals and assessment of how well they have met those goals in the preceding week.
The reports might also include feedback on the project, and any suggestions for improvement.

Perhaps we could all ask for some example? It would help greately. I spoke with some of my team members and it seem that noone really knows how those reports should look like.

Regards
@project.hope

You can simply run a reports of who you upvoted, tags or categories, just an example. Showing a pie chart would be nice to see in your report.

Thank you for the suggestion.

Did you apply as curator as well? Hoping so.

We are not going to dictate what might be quality comments - we will leave that to the judgement of the Community Curators in the context of their communities.

Regarding the weekly reports, they should be made on the account of the 'Account Manager'.

We are purposefully not giving specific guidance on this as we want to see what formats and ideas the Community Curators come up. This is a two-way learning experience particularly in this first month of the project.

The Steemit Team

Thank you for prompt reply.

So I can assume, that if we would organize some weekly contest where most valuable comments would receive 10% upvote - then you will be okey with it?

We are purposefully not giving specific guidance on this as we want to see what formats and ideas the Community Curators come up

I understand. Part of my job is to collect and analyze data and often present them in requested form. I'm glad to know that we have that much flexibility at this stage.

ps. is there any chance to connect via Discord? I strongly believe that communication is the key if we want to achieve our goals. Perhaps you could add me: crypto.piotr#3426 (I promise not to spam your account ;)

Yours,
@crypto.Piotr

We will be in touch later today about the transfer of the key.

Thank you

The Steemit Team

Lovely. Keep in touch @steemcurator01

We are looking for the Community Curators to try different ideas.

Thank you for the Discord account - we will be in touch.

The Steemit Team

Congratulations for the well deserved support for this project, which for long time it's been working with admirable efforts and results!!

My best wishes for @Crypto.Piotr and all the great Team and Community!!

thanks @leveuf for your encouraging comment :)

I'm sure it will be fruitful for the @Project.Hope and for many users!!

Muchas Felicidades!! :)

Congrats! Hopefully good curation will lead to retention and onboarding.

We are looking forward to seeing how the project develops and the results it will bring.

The Steemit Team

Hi @steemitblog

AWESOME! Congratulation to everyone. Especially to @roadofrich, @wherein, @project.hope, @canna-curate, @greece-lover, @remlaps and @stef1

I'm still unclear about this part:

All votes on posts should be accompanied by a curation comment that includes the line “This post has been rewarded by the Steem Community Curation Project. #communitycurationXY” where XY will be the number of your account.

What is "number of my account"?

We are looking for curators to vote for as wide a range of accounts as possible, rewarding quality posts, particularly those that are not cross-posted on other platforms.

Ehm. That would surely take enormous extra amount of time to verify if upvoted content has been posted by particular author only on one chain. I understand idea behind it, however at the end of the day it means that curators will have to invest so much more time. Especially if they would like to support content with smaller upvotes.

I'm trying to imagine situation where I want to support 50 authors with 20% voting power upvotes. Checking if they posted on other platforms (and I assume that we'not talking only about hive chain, but ALL other platforms) could take enormous amount of time. I'm wondering how to approach this.

Yours,
Piotr

The account number will become clear when the key is passed to you.

I suspect you will know many of the authors within your community, and so you will become familiar with their posting habits.

If the requirements are too onerous for you we can skip @project.hope this month and pass the award on to another curator.

Please confirm if you are accepting or not.

Thank you

The Steemit Team

Appreciated @steemcurator01.

Please be assured that our response is positive. We accept this challenge.

Perhaps the emotion of being selected aroused many concerns in us, many questions that we want to clarify. But I understand that this is a new initiative for you also where you will learn from us and the procedures will be perfected in the following months.

Therefore, the selected teams have a great responsibility since we are "Pioneers" in this new modality which I am sure will bring only positive reactions and benefits for more authors.

This strengthens the entire ecosystem: the economy also benefits, there will be a fairer distribution of rewards and the authors who benefit will see further growth in their accounts.

I have a proposal for you:

Could you study the possibility of making the "Conditional Distribution" of the curation SP generated during that month of delegation?
This would be your greatest gesture of kindness towards the curators in charge and the community in general.

What is a "Conditional Distribution"?
You could delegate, suppose for 6 months, the amount of curation SP generated by each curator during this month of delegation.

Thus, after that month had elapsed, the curators would have the opportunity to see their communities grow beyond the duration of the prize of this contest, to grow their accounts in SP and thus have greater voting power to continue doing good work within their communities.

Do you like my proposal? Hopefully they can consider it.

Friend @juanmolina, excellent proposal, I recommend you make a publication to make that proposal.

@steemitblog has a publication where they are requesting ideas, and I think your idea is very solid, in addition to helping both grow in this sense to the one who makes the delegation as well as to the one who receives it.

Yours,
Lanz José

Thanks dear friend.
I´ll try to.

Hi @steemcurator01, @steemitblog

Thank you again for prompt reply and being so communicative.

I'm naturally still interested with offered collaboration and received support. My goal was to share some concerns, which I like to do since I believe that communicating those concerns and learning other people's opinions can only help achieve our goals.

It will help to make things right. That's my learning process, especially when I'm involved into something new. I collect data, discuss things when I'm unclear, share my concerns and then I act.

So again: you can still count on us.

Yours, Piotr

Fellow curators of @project.hope I think it's fair to ask our participants to self declare if they're going to cross post. I think the community is mature enough to understand the situation and the requirement. And if cross posting to "the other community" is important for their income, they can do it after the payout window of #steem, that's their own problem. There's no term for "self plagiarism", but they will have to deal with their "authority" from the other community which like to downvote everything.

Hello @steemcurator01, we very much appreciate the designation of @project.hope to take this responsibility, I fully understand @crypto.piotr and the concern it raises, I think it is reasonable, now, I also know that it is a pilot project and it is It is necessary to listen to and analyze what the community is saying, but I also know that we will organize ourselves to face this challenge successfully.

@steemitblog and the Steemit team got pregnant in an initiative where the contribution of ideas from the community is requested, it is good to analyze and reflect on each approach made by the community, especially when Project HOPE has shown that we are committed to this platform.

Steem's success is our success.

Thank you!

Dear @crypto.piotr, I think your concern is reasonable and I agree that other curators have the same concern. From the point of view that you take it, it is certainly a very demanding job, but like @juanmolina I think they are alluding to Hive even if it is not mentioned.

Our community has the capacity to face this challenge and emerge victorious, there should only be everyone's commitment to organize ourselves in a #tag that only posts that are not uploaded on another platform, so that you can find them better and give them a positive vote .

I think the idea of clarifying posts with exclusive #tag is a good one.

We are innovating, we are pioneers and this must be seen as a way to start a relationship that will bring other things that will benefit the steem chain, steemit and Project HOPE, I think it is worth the effort, if we organize we can do it in the best way and everything will be fine.

That's my opinion!

Sorry for such a late reply
Thx for your comment. I love to see how responsive you are :))

Hi @steemcurator01. Of course we accept the challenge

Team of our project hope , from my humble joy I send everyone a big congratulations, the way things should work is as a team, that premise friend @crypto.piotr starts, you can count on all my help so that our team continues to set standards.

This new initiative will face many challenges, I am sure that we can overcome them without any problem, now we just have to start working so that this comes to a happy end, where we can all win and continue to grow in our reputation.

The rules are clear and we know where it points, so we will follow the assigned guidelines.

Yours,
Lanz José

YAY! That's excellent news! Congratulations to @project.hope Community!

You have always been the engine that has kept the love of the blockchain alive. And I'm sure you've been the main reason many people haven't abandoned this platform in the past. You've always been a person who knows how to motivate people, and you've brought together a lot of great people in the Project Hope community.

Brother, we are making many forward guesswork.
I understand that this is a novel process and there are many questions. But I assure you that STINC also has these.

They need to perfect this new entrepreneurship and to do so, they count on our help.

Checking if they posted on other platforms (and I assume that we'not talking only about hive chain, but ALL other platforms) could take enormous amount of time.

I'm sure the reference here is clear: we shouldn't cure any publication that is also on HIVE. It's that simple.

To avoid this, we can organize our team of writers.
During the month of delegation, the publications made in our community should not be duplicated in Hive. Those who meet this condition will be beneficiaries of the curation upvote.

I fully agree with you Juan.

It's a learning process for all of us.

Thank you, and I want to wish you success as well!

Dear @yehey

Thank you for your prompt and kind reply.

Thank you for your prompt and kind reply.

Yes if you do this manually, it will not be efficient. Play hard. Work Smart.

I do like your sense of humour :)

You still would need to to verify every post, to see if it's not being posted anywhere else. They didn't mention hive chain in particular. It means, that I would need to open every post which I want to upvote and search online if it has been posted elsewhere. On any other platform.

This part of task still need to be done manually. And let's say I want to upvote 20 posts daily. It takes much more than 3min / post to go through that process. Which would mean min one hour daily burned. That's a lot.

Please don't get me wrong. I don't have IT skills to build a bot, which would allow me to automatize upvoting system. And I'm not trying to complain.

My only goal is to underline some possible difficulties, which people in my position will face soon. I strongly believe that I'm not the only curator which will face similiar concerns.

And I would like STINC to be aware of those concerns and to be full of understanding. I want to spent time ensuring growth of @project.hope community, bringing new users who share similar interests into our community, guiding them and supporting those users content. I don't want to become a a police-offier.

ps.
Would you be able to help me with this automatization?

Yours,
Piotr

  ·  4 years ago (edited)Reveal Comment

Dear @yehey

All you have mentioned can be done automatically. Do you think Google, Twitter and other social media do it manually?

Of course not.

I working on a project right now for SteemAccount creation website

Excellent. I would gladly share more info about your project with members of our community and help you build some more exposure and traffic. So if you would have this site ready and once you would publish some article about it - then just drop me a message with link to your publication. I will gladly also support your content with decent upvote.

And besides, it will be conflicting agenda as I also applied for the curator project (sadly not the lucky one). It will become redundant if we both use the same logic of programs.

I don't see us as a "competition". If we all want STEEM to survive and perhaps move forward sometime in the future - then people like us need to learn to collaborate. That's my view only.

I would also gladly support your project and I could allocate 1 daily upvote (you could send me one link daily to my discord and I would gladly upvote it). Let's find ways of helping each other, instead of competing.

Thank you again for taking the time to reply. I appreciate it,
Yours, Piotr

Congrats for all the selected applicants and happy curating 😃

Thank you

I really like it that the voting power is doubled and spread over more accounts. At present, it is key to reward great creators and newbies to the platform, and those who have their heart with Steem.
Good luck and congrats to the curators!

Thank you for your support.

We are happy that we could expand the delegation support and number of Community Curators from the start. There were so many good applications.

The Steemit Team

Nice to see support for the cannabis community that still posts here. It's a message that is hard to get out, and one that has been censored and attacked for decades, but an important one. Cannabis is medicine - one of the safest known - and prohibiting or censoring it hurts innocent people. Showing canna_curate some love was a good move.

Great work by Jon!

Excellent choice's @steemitblog
@canna-curate will do you and all of us PROUD!

We are happy to support a range of communities on Steem.

Thanks Drutter!

Congratulations to all those selected in this great project! We hope that everyone does a job that is fair and that they see for the community, it is the key.

Don't worry. Those who were selected are selected for a reason. Can't imagine someone wants to abuse this honor!

My admiration to all the selected Curators for this inauguration of the Community Curators Project!! I'm sure everyone will do an excellent work!!

Congratulations also for the great step that has been made by the Steemit Team and this Project. You've made the best selection of the candidates considering the experience needed in these area for the first Curators for the Project. Certainly it will be a great learning for all the people and communities interested in the growth of good initiatives and projects in Steem.

It was difficult to disappoint so many other fine applicants but new Community Curators will be selected each month, and those unsuccessful this first month will be welcome to reapply for the next round.

There is no disappointment in not being selected, for the contrary I think for all the participants the most important is to contribute in constructing a better platform to create and socialize. I'm sure all applicants will be interested in the process and attending for the monthly call.

Thanks for your consideration and great support for the Knitrias Project!! It will be starting operations in the next week. Five candidates are already subscribed and we surely will reach ten!!

Here I share a link for anyone interested to the last post by @Knitrias:

Congratulation to the first batch of curators. While the rest of us will continue to curate, so keep steeming.

Thanks on behalf of @project.hope, congratulations friend @crypto.piotr for this assignment, very well deserved.

Thank you for your support.

I congratulate @Project.hope for qualifying for the first batch of steel community curators. It's a well deserved selection and I hope the delegation would be put to effective use to the promotion and support of quality content creation on steem especially as it relates to technology and business.

Also to @Roadofrich, it's a great achievement to get supported for the great work you have put into the RORGAME. Im sure that users would be more endeared to gaming on steel as more value would be obtained.

Congratulations to other community curators.

Thanks @uyobong :)

I think the cross platform posting should be allowed, as long as original was posted on steemit. May be a thought. Also, I think curating comments is also important. There has to be engagement on posts. Curators should include that in their curation goals. Hopefully they do it.

I like that the focus is on new users as well. Perhaps, delegation may have been a good idea. But I do see a point that allowing managing a separate account as well. Curators will then only use SP only for community growth, not earning curation rewards.

Good stuff!!

Hey @steemcurator01
Translation in Hindi for Indian community is ready
100 दिन STEEM : दिन 21 - Community Curators for May 2020

Thank you

With all my heart I congratulate the selected projects.
I am convinced that they will make correct use of the SP.

I also want to congratulate the @steemitblog team in a very special way for this wonderful initiative.

"We are setting a milestone in the history of Steemit.
We have a golden responsibility to make this work".

I am sure that we will be the object of attacks by those users who, despite having their own chain, still make unconstructive criticism.
We will likely see many downvotes in posts curated by the curators of this initiative.

Therefore we must be vigilant, educated and maintain all possible diplomacy.

Thank you for your support.

My pleasure. Your work is so valuable.

May is a month of excitement for them @roadofrich, @wherein, @canna-curate, @greece-lover, @project.hope, @remlaps, @stef and us.
Thank's to @steemcurator01 and @steemitblog

I am really very happy and congratulated all the winners of this delegation. Friends, you had a difficult task. You will be the first to take these steps in the new steemit. How he really believed they will. May they be very successful on their journey. They have my support at all times.

To the users that we did not manage to enter this group my friends do not be discouraged it is a first group maybe for the next or the next what there is not is to pass out for sure many good things come, we are on the right track feels the change.

Regards...

Unfortunately thats the worst decision you've ever made!. RIP Steem

says the one who constantly insults Sun with racist slogans, who participates in a voting circle, and talks badly against Steem every day.

Interesting. Would it be your strategy if you were in charge of STINC @pfunk?

Stinc doesn't exist anymore

Legally it does. If it's not STINC, then where is STINC ? :)

Plus I'm more interested with your strategy if you were in charge of misterdelegation account

I would delegate it all to @haejin

I saw hive took @steemit and @misterdelegation stake for hive airdrop into Decentralized Hive Fund sources;https://peakd.com/proposal/@crypticat/burn-821-hbd-day I hope they will delegate them all to community curator project like you suggested in steem.

The Stinc accounts that were used to attack and takeover Steem were not airdropped any HIVE/HP tokens. Nothing was taken from them, as Hive did not exist before its launch a month ago.

You mean this post by @crypticat is a lie? 😳https://peakd.com/proposal/@crypticat/burn-proposal-debate-initiation
"@steem.dao now holds 83,370,275 million HIVE tokens, these tokens were not airdropped to Steemit Inc. and the supporters of Justin Sun's witnesses in accordance with founding principals of HIVE. The plan is to slowly drip these tokens into the Hive Proposal System..."
According to @crypticat on his post here https://peakd.com/proposal/@crypticat/burn-821-hbd-day

FACTS

  • 4450 HBD can drip into the Decentralized Hive Fund each day, almost 60% more than before the STEEM/HIVE fork!
  • @steem.dao wallet has 445,051 HBD and 83,370,205 HIVE which is slowly being converted into more HBD for the DAO
  • the 83 million HIVE and 164000 of the HBD represent Steemit's Stake and those accounts which supported Justin Sun's witness takeover, this currency injection is new to the Decentralized Hive Fund
  • 821 HBD is half the difference between the additional funds injected into the Proposal system as a result of the hard fork

Thank you for the clarification. It's just disturbing that Hive still prints their Steem balance into Hive/HBD token though..and put them into DHF. Maybe that's how blockchain works. It's beyond my capacity then.

Spreading the love 💕

Based on your profile, you are an adult. But actions speak louder than words, so yeah.
You where a respected author, why on earth are you throwing away every little bit of respect you ever earned? An option would be to just move on, carry on.
Your opinion about the leadership is clear, you made that clear.
But I ask you have respect for others, and stop being a slave from your illness.
Retirement syndrome, Stockholm syndrome, rumination,... You got bigger fish to fry

And miss out on the last 79 Days of Steem?

Justin Sun came right out and asked us if we wanted to fuck him. His words, not mine.

sheesh are you going to get over it?

:) okay, carry on.

he is relentless :)

That man has become a troll.
So remember ...

He's actually an amazing writer and often a reasonable person.

Seems reasonable enough to me. Unreasonable would be placing your bets on the censored, broken, centralized horse run by idiots.

But... Least you forgot.. I saw all your reasoning skills! :) lol

So, I am not surprised that you find this a valid form of discussion and a respectable way towards moving forward.

I understand the meme culture, but there are also times it just starts to backfire.

(just messing with you, there is a difference between betting and letting some time pass for the hotheads to cool down)

If it is worthy of effort, it will still be there in 8 weeks.

I totally agree.

lol :)
