Under the best of circumstances, as a writer who works from home, my days are externally uneventful. Covid19 lockdown and the race protest in the US have made me even more of a homebody... so there's not that much to report, really, other than what occurs inside my head.
Typically, I read and write poetry. Taking a much-needed breather from posting poetry, instead I'll share with you a highlight of my day, which was preparing a homemade pizza :)
Because my sweet wife is an incorrigible pizza addict, this is something we might do more than once a week, now.
When it comes to pizza preparation, I let the little lady lead -and take the back seat as chopper and dicer- which is a reversal of our typical roles in the kitchen.
Because of Covid, we try to show for groceries once every 2-3 weeks. Last time we visited Trader Joe's, less than a week ago, we purchased pizza dough and tomato sauce, as well as veggies and other ingredients that we might use.
If you wish to try this at home, dear reader, what you absolutely need is an oven -which you will preheat at 400 degrees, and use to cook the pizza for 15-17 minutes- also the aforementioned dough, tomato sauce, cheese (we used Parmesan and mozzarella, typically; rarely, Swiss). Also, whatever toppings you like (ours was vegetarian, with kale, red pepper, onion, carrots, olives, garlic and a whole lot of hope).
When we go out for pizza or order it in, we tend to do 1/2 and 1/2 (if they allow us) since she's a simple gal, and I'm a pile-it-on guy, who favors pineapples, pesto, olives, kale, chicken and just about everything else, really (can you guess which half is mine?)
After the pizza is ready, we turn on the TV -- watch some depressing news about the Corona Virus and race riots, then, watch a movie on Netflix.
Which movie, you ask? I let the missus choose, so it was a teenage flick (her favorite genre) called Clueless about silly high school dramas.
Alright, many thanks, for your attention and I hope you might want to try this at home :) Bon Appetit!
