Lovely Venus, or . . .
A Coast Guard helicopter?
No, no, just Venus
This haiku is something of an inside joke, based on a true story from one of our sailing trips, crewing on larger boat for our friend Don, who was teaching us the ins and outs of sailing our own Morgan sailboat really well.
Don was a professional sailing captain, and was tasked with bringing the boat back to St. Petersburg from the Miami Boat Show, to Salt Works, where it was to be checked out and refitted.
One thing I didn't mention in the previous comment is that Dragonfly, a 38 foot Benneteau catamaran, had no handholds in the ceiling, which it typical on oceangoing yachts.
This meant that, when we were in really heavy seas, there was literally nothing to hold onto when crossing the main saloon, resulting in all of taking us falls. I took a fall down a flight of stairs, into one of the pontoon cabins, but luckily I was not injured.
Still, the trip was absolutely worth it, we had a (mostly) great time, and she was an absolute joy in calm seas.
And, the morning after the storm, Michael managed to fix the autopilot, which worked flawlessly for the rest of the trip. With a rubber band. Yes, a rubber band. ;-)
And that afternoon when I was napping, a pod of spotted dolphins joined us, and were bow riding the wake of the boat as we sailed. Luckily I came up from the cabin about then, and so got to enjoy their presence as well.
In a good breeze with calm seas, we were doing twelve to fourteen knots, which was twice as fast as we could do in our Morgan 22, which had a hull speed of 6 knots.
These are just additional details, and the longer version of the story is in my comment on @thekittygirl's post on Venus, which I recommend reading as well.
And the joke is fully explained in my comment on her post. ;-)
I took this photo last night on my way back to the house from taking in the goats for the night. The moon and Venus were just gorgeous, and I couldn't not take a photo of it . . . or several.
As explained in my earlier posts, I'll format this properly once I get my laptop back from the shop.
Meanwhile, everyone have a great night or day, depending on where you are at the moment!

Beautiful place to take a ferry, no doubt!
I did a little sailing in the Caribbean, but most of my boating there was on cruise ships, which although enjoyable, simply don't compare.
But the sailing I did, first in California, then far more along the west coast of Florida, was some of the best times in my life.
I hope you get to experience that, as those times made me come alive, more than anything else I've ever done. I absolutely love sailing.
