Some Barns For my Kitty

As Promised

This first one is interesting. Though not an actual barn, I thought maybe you would appreciate it. As @brisby gave me a small tour of her area, I spied this little thing. She was all, it's a library. I was all whaaaaat? Apparently, in better neighborhoods where people still trust each other (which is a beautiful thing), people swap out books in these and they are located in various corners of the city. Probably - besides actually meeting Bris - the neatest part of the visit to Syracuse. I've never seen anything like that before!

The Pagoda

Prior to being enticed with cookies and nom-noms, I had told Bris I was going to take pictures of barns for @thekittygirl and asked her if she knew of any cool ones in the area. She had mentioned one that was representation for a soldier's wife. A mural that was added to a specific barn to remind her of her homeland. Such a sweet story made me want to see it and the rest, well, @brisby is cool as shit.

WAIT! Stop!!!

On the way to a place she liked to visit as a kid, we saw that one barn up there with the wagon wheels. Maybe the people at the @welcomewagon might like that one, HA! Anyway, we visited the cave and drove past a few other barns. One we went by on the way back through and I was all, "WHOA, wait STOP!" As you can see, it has our 'family star' in that quilted patchwork design I saw in Kentucky. So, ya know, had to stop. Sorry about the sudden brake Bris, LOL - didn't see that on passing originally. I hope you like them Kitty! STeeM oN my peoples, and REMEMBER TO BE YOU! I always am, even when I'm sightseeing in Syracuse.

Sort Order:

As Engine calmly drives down the road at 80mph, he spots out the corner of his eye a barn and he quickly pulls the handbrake, does a 180 degree spin and zooms into the driveway of that farm.

As he approaches he knows that he could be facing a gramps with a 12 guage, but he doesn't care, he is on a mission. A mission more important than what any non Alliance member can ever fathom.

He needs to make a member of The Alliance smile.

Just as he finishes taking photos, the gramps shows up with his double barrel shotgun and Witty jumps into his Boobiemobile and slams the gas pedal down to the metal. Leaving gramps in a cloud of dust he amazingly manages to see a small up slope in the field, right before the perimeter fence, he heads straight for it and leaps into the air.
Landing right on the highway that leads him to the safety of his own home.

This part of the story you left out man, felt like everyone had to know the facts about the dangers you went through to get these photos.

;)

Cheers!

Told ya not to tell anyone, hard all the sacrifices I make for my peoples. They'll never really know😎

AH! I love that little library. I saw one like that in Metairie, when my parents used to live outside of New Orleans. Nice barn pics. I'm sure Kitty will like them. And that star is fabulous! Made me grin. Resteemed because you, @brisby, @dreemsteem and @thekittygirl are some of my favourite people and this post is like hugging all of you at once. ;)

I loved the five-way hug. Hehehheeh makes me think of how fun it would be in person!!!! ♥️♥️♥️

Posted using Partiko Android

Aww! Love the hug, thank you! (Psst! If we ever get to to a group hug, I apologize now if my hands end up somewhere weird because I'm short. 😆)

Here's a squirrely one for you!💕

So many beautiful people in that hug, my mind is going places😋

That is some really awesome looking barns and different from the ones I've seen 😉👍
I love the one that's a library, so cool and I have to say the barn that was a gift for the soldiers wife to make her feel at home ❤️ made my heart go all.. Awww.. Such a sweet gesture.

@brisby really took you to some cool spots and thank you for sharing it with us 😊 loved it!
I'm sure you made @thekittygirl's day with those pictures.

Awsome post as always and love to share your life and experiences 🤗❤️🤗 Love

Happy Sunday and 🤗🤗 for you!

I always wondered if the owners of the pagoda barn would get frustrated with random people driving up every day to take photos. 🤔

Ya that little library was totally cool. Gonna see about getting stuff like that here.

I can't wait to meet and hug and spoil you! We'll head somewhere peaceful with a trunk full of cream puffs, cookies, and smokes. 🤗

Was a blast sis!

in our local community that little library is actually a food cupboard which people can put non-perishable and this time of year items that wont freeze in for those who need them.

A food cupboard? Now that's just as, if not more, impressive of good samaritans out here.

yes, it's right beside the town hall and a local committee looks after it

Great post, @enginewitty!

We used to have a couple of the little free libraries in the neighborhood where I used to live in Seminole, Florida, and my girlfriend Beqi had a bookshelf (that I gave her) in her hair salon set up for the same purpose.

She had stacks of books before the shelf, which is why I brought her the shelf, which worked out great!

We traded quite a few books over the years. Who knows, maybe I'll have to set one up here. ;-)

And I love cool barns as well. What stories they could tell. Though most of those near me you're probably already familiar with, but there's one in Hickory Valley that breaks my heart, because it was truly beautiful and is now falling down.

Ah well, nothing is forever, and no doubt it has its stories as well.

And I've slammed on the brakes, or asked whoever was driving to do so, more than once when seeking a good shot. ;-)

Ya, I'm totally going to try and get some of those communities' library deals set up around here, maybe you can help.

Posted using Partiko Android

I'd be happy to, and I'll likely have some books to donate!

🤗 It's funny how accustomed I've become to my neighborhood. I'm so used to the little libraries that they're no big deal. It's thanks to your seeing one for the first time that I have more appreciation for the generosity people have in setting one up and for how my area isn't rampant with vandalism. (Or at least, that the thugs respect books, LOL!)

It was fun playing tour guide. (Next time I'll drag your happy self through more winding back-country roads for more pics. There's barns in spades in Memphis and Jordan.) 😂Bright side, you were able to snag the cool photo of the patchwork and I know my brakes are working fine. You are so sweet to seek out the barns to share with Kitty! 💕

Ha ha! Yes! Your brakes work very well! Thanks for stopping and dealing with my desires :P

😂 Anytime.

Howdy sir enginewitty! wonderful post...I don't know very many neighborhoods which could support that little libarary, most places people would not only steal all the books but the library itself!
The barn photos...wonderful. Love those, great job sir!

See, that's my notion too, but a good neighborhood must it be she dwells in. Not something you see every day!

yes sir I agree, it's a beautiful thing and that was a very cool post!

Wowwwww!!!!! I love the wagon wheel!! Hehehehe and those barns are beautiful and you captured them nicely @enginewitty!!!!

And yes!!! When we lived on our "other mountain" for 10 years, before this one... We had a little "library" like that too! It was very sweet and a super tender community that came together for movies under the stars, apple festivals, square dances and more. Hehehe towns like that do still exist, even though you have to put up with bad internet usually because they're so tucked away! 😂😂😂

Awesome visit with @brisby!

Gosh.... I wish I had the gift of hospitality!!! I just don't lol

But I love people that make it seem so easy!!!! ♥️♥️♥️

Posted using Partiko Android

No hospitality? So if I came out west, you wouldn't invite me over? Ugh😋😋😘

Posted using Partiko Android

I would TOTALLY invite you over!!!!

But we would sit on the couch laughing and talking and I would forget that i never gave you anything to eat.

See?

LOLOL no gift of hospitality!
Hahahahahaha

Then I'd be like I'm hungry. OH NO!!! ARE YOU HUNGRY TOO!?!??

Aghhhhhhhh sorry I didn't feed you for 3 days! It was just so much fun talking!!!

So we need to invite @brisby so she can keep us fed and hugged hehehheeh

I'd probably forget about eating too until you actually mentioned it because we would be having a blast😍😍

Love you my Booty Cap'n!!🤗🤗😘🙄🤗

Posted using Partiko Android

Hehehehehee ok so then you can come! LOLOLOLOL

Love you back MVP♥️♥️♥️♥️

so is that the Dreem diet? Go visit and wait for Dreem to remember to offer you a meal?

Hahahahahahhaa well...kinda. you probably wouldn't lose much cuz when we remembered... We'd finally pig out!!! 😄

Quite interesting. We have similar things in our locality as well. But it is not just books, people create a rack outside their house and keep their unused things in the rack. Whoever needs it will take it and use. This usually has old books, utensils, clothes etc.

Wow that's a really neat idea! Love sharing.

I love love love the Little Free Libraries. My neighbor the next street over has one, but I haven't gotten the courage to visit. Life goals to have one myself, but some places require permits & hassle folks for having them. If I drove i thought it'd be great fun to pick reclaimed materials & collect stuff to make them as a hobby/art or sell. If you ever get bored I recommend an image search. There's a TARDIS one that is fantastic & some are so charming it's ridiculous. 😻

Also the red barn doors are amazing. They're a little bit right out of my zombie dream house fantasies.

Sweeet! If you get a chance and remember, snap a shot of the tardis one and tag me, would love to see that!!!
