Let's take a trip down memory lane, circa 2012. Ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce you to Arie Luyendyk (pronounced Lye-oon-dike). You may (or may not) remember him from Emily Maynard's season of The Bachelorette. Emily's storyline involved the tragic death of her racecar driving fiance. He died in a plane crash, and shortly after Emily found out she was pregnant with their daughter. We first met Emily on Brad Womack's second unfortunate season of The Bachelor. He was clearly smitten with her from night one, proposed to her at the end of the show, then proceeded to treat her like shit. They broke up and she became The Season 8 Bachelorette.
Ironically, Arie is also a racecar driver. He was in Emily's final two but ultimately lost out to Jef (One F) Holm. Arie was completely blindsided and confused over their breakup.
He was the fan favorite and the predicted winner. Not only was he passed over to be The Bachelor on more than two different occasions, they now waited so long that no one remembers him or his journey. I am just happy they did not choose Peter from the previous season of The Bachelorette with Rachel Lindsay. We all know he was just in it to become The Bachelor... Anyways, I am just relieved it's not Peter, so I am going to put in a good word for Arie and remind you all of his moves:
