The 2170 BTC which the service confiscated from various lawbreakers will be exhibited at the cryptocurrency exchange auction, which is organized by the US Marshals Service (USMS). It is interesting that the auction will contain cryptocurrency confiscated from Sean Bridges, an ex-agent of the US Secret Service, who was arrested for bribing 20,000 BTC from the anonymous Silk Road trading platform, a case investigation of which was being conducted with Bridges.
The auction will be held on the 19th of March from 8 am to 8 pm (North American Eastern Standard Time). Bidding will be divided into three stages. The first one will contain two lots of 500 BTC, the second one will contain 11 lots of 100 BTC and the third one will contain 1 lot with 70 BTC.
This is not the first auction conducted by USMS, the service has already put up confiscated cryptocurrencies for sale for a year, three popular auctions are known in wide circles, where BTC was confiscated after the seizure of the property of the illegal Silk Road exchange.
It can be added that this year the US Marshals Service auctioned 3813 BTC, which at the time of writing of the article was $33.5 million taking into account the fallen value of BTC, at the time of sale the amount it varied at the price of about $50 million.
