Sometimes the best friendships abroad are born of professional association. When my English student invited me to celebrate her mothers birthday with there family, I happily accepted. It is not uncommon in South America for clients, who feel they have a connection with you, to invite you to social events. Being my own boss, I consulted our company policy, and it was a go!
Saturday was for friendship and fiesta!

Dear Diary - My Son and I are Having Fun Today!
Saturday started as it always does - with devotion, prayer and bulletproof coffee. After spilling half of mine yesterday, I was careful to use two hands and sip carefully.
A book we are reading talks about the earths vibration affecting all forms of life. Because of the Large Hadron Collider in Geneva, Switzerland, the earth's frequency has been altered. What it means could be loss of coordination, emotional upset and change in normal growing/mating patterns in nature. For me, it means spilled coffee.
After breakfast it was time to clean up, relax and get ready to go.
At 10:00 AM, we took our puppy out for a walk. It was a beautiful sunny morning in the upper Andes Mountains of Colombia. We didn't go far, but we got some fresh air and exercise before we had to leave for Villamaria.
By 11:00 AM we were out the door. To get to where we had to go, we had to catch two different buses, then wait for a pick-up. In total, via public transport it takes an hour and a bit less than $2 USD to get there. I love how cheap and available public transport it. Not having to drive and pay for a car, is bliss!
The rest of the day was spent eating, visiting, and at one point giving my student her English class. We laughed, danced and ate until late into the evening. Suddenly it was 8:30, and I was worrying about making sure I left early enough to catch a bus home. Quickly we said our goodbyes and left.
We fell into our beds exhausted but both of us happy that we spent time in good company. I was so tired, I couldn't even get my diary finished, and now I am publishing a day late!
