It is strange how the musk of a ripening cantaloupe can completely fill a room. This melon was my luxury purchase for September. The price was $0.59 per pound. It cost $1.75. A singly cantaloupe cost 3 times more than I made playing #TheDiaryGame in August. I made $1.31/2 for my 31 posts. That is about 2 cents per post.

@dustsweeper gave me 4 upvotes. Dusty is a bot that I hired to upvote posts that are just below the reward payout. If I subtract the funds I gave to dusty; then my rewards are less than $0.02.

Speaking of the game, I am really sad that @steemitblog hasn't posted since the mid season break. I actually was writing a post on September 1.

I was expecting @SteemItBlog to add more rules for the second half of the game. I suspect that they are in a horrible situation. If they posted, they would immediately receive a hundred posts complaining about the curation of the game.

Toward Midnight on August 31, I downloaded the data for the game and updated my SteemIt Diary Game Curation Overview

My page shows all of the players in the game in August along with the number of curations and percent of the curation that they received. This table shows the data broken into quintiles

QuintilePct of PostsPct of CurationsPct of Reward
113.09%1.65%0.74%
215.85%8.27%4.78%
318.58%15.45%12.26%
424.84%27.19%25.25%
527.64%47.45%56.97%

The bottom Quintile of players wrote 13% of the posts but received less than one percent of the rewards. I am in the bottom quintile.

The top quintile received 56.9% of the reward. If the diary game was curated fairly; this differential would be lower.

I don't have access to graphing software. I created a very simple SVG graph to show the distribution of the rewards. As you see, about 5% of the players received outsized rewards.

The data from August shows that the SteemIt Curations simply gave the bulk of the curations for #TheDiaryGame to their friends.

It took me a couple hours to accumulate the data for August. Since I wrote a post for every day in August, I resolved to write a post for every day in September. But, you know, the diary posts are low quality. It takes me an hour to write 300 words, and I decided not commit the time in September.

I did notice that some of the accounts that received the big rewards are powering down and fleeing.

The Diary Game was a good opportunity @steemitblog to show the colors of the post hard fork steemit. They blew the opportunity.

There are too many other important things happening in this world than spending 40 hours to earn $0.64 in Steem. I didn't even make enough to buy a cantaloupe.
