I don't know whether you practice in Virginia (although I assume you probably do if you're writing about Virginia law), but I wonder whether you think it's likely that Virginia will ever raise the monetary value for grand larceny? These days it's really not hard to steal $200 worth of stuff and if inflation continues the threshold will only continue to creep lower and lower in real terms.
