There are a lot of mysteries about ancient Egypt that we still cannot explain. One of the biggest mysteries is the pyramids. There are many pyramids around the world, but for simplicity, I will be referring to the Pyramids of Giza.
Facts
The large limestone blocks that make up the pyramids were moved from a quarry 13 - 17 km away from the pyramid site. The blocks weigh 2.5 tons on average. The larger blocks weigh up to about 10 tons (and some up to 50 tons). The Great Pyramid of Giza alone is made up of 2.3 million blocks. This comes out to a total weight of about 6.5 million tons. An article from livescience.com describes how much a modern day plan would cost to build the Great Pyramid. The total comes out to about $5 billion.
The Great Pyramid's north-south axis is aligned to within 3/60 of a degree of true north-south. That is more accurate than that the Meridian Building at the Greenwich Observatory in London. The Pyramids also are aligned with great precision to Orion's Belt.
There are many other relations of the Pyramids to astronomy, these are just the most commonly addressed.
Current Day Theory
Scientists state that the Great Pyramid was built in about 20 years with around 6,700 workers. The Egyptians were said to move the building blocks by simply pulling them. They would pour water on the sand to keep it from building up in the front and making the stones harder to pull. Here are some hieroglyphics illustrating this.
It is commonly claimed that the pyramids were tombs built for the Pharaohs of ancient Egypt and their queens.
A Closer Look
In fact, no mummies have been found in the Great Pyramids. So, why are they claimed to be tombs then? I find it very strange that this is the only purpose that people give the Pyramids credit for. It seems more obvious to me that their purpose is more astronomy based.
Scientists have found that the Great Pyramid was built in about 20 years. They have strong supporting evidence of this. Let's do some math. There are about 7300 days in 20 years. This means that more than 315 blocks were placed each day. This means that more than 4 and a half blocks were placed each minute. That is only if there were workers working consistently all 24 hours of the day.
Was this even possible? Scientist say yes. If they are correct, this was an extremely impressive job (as if the Pyramids of Giza aren't impressive enough already). I can imagine two possible scenarios that could have led to the pyramids being built.
Scenario 1
The pyramids could have been the first work of massive mind control. We don't give enough credit to our ancient ancestors. When most people imagine our ancestors, they imagine that they weren't very smart at all. The fact is that they were just as smart as we are today. Human's haven't evolved in quite a while. Sure they didn't have the same education as us, but they had the same amount of brain power as us.
Egyptians studied the sky quite a bit. They were able to calculate exactly when a solar eclipse would happen. If you didn't know already, the Egyptians worshiped Rah, the Sun god. They were aware that the sun brings life to the Earth. They would be doomed without it. This spawned a very dark idea. Someone realized that they could get people to do anything that they wanted if the people feared for their very lives.
The pharaohs told the people of Egypt that if they didn't serve them, they would take away the sun at a specific time. This time was of course when a solar eclipse would happen. As the moon began to cover the Sun, the people were in total fear for their lives, for they believed that it was the end of life as they knew it. The moon passed and the pharaoh claimed that he would give the people a second chance. They must serve unto him or else they would perish. The Egyptians then began to construct the pyramids without question. They began their lives as obedient, fearful slaves. Little did they know, the pharaoh had no control over the Sun, and fear was their only true god.
Scenario 2
It is insane how a culture so primitive could built the Great Pyramid of Giza in only 20 years. How could humans pull stones weighing up to 50 tons? What if they received help? Who would have helped them? Nothing on Earth is more advanced than the human race... Maybe it was aliens.
I know this sounds crazy, but there is a lot of evidence that supports this theory. There are so many astronomical factors present in the pyramids, too many to be considered a coincidence. Could primitive humans really have designed something so accurate? It is possible, but maybe they had some other-worldly help.
Here is something to think about. There are many ancient monuments all around the world. Many of them line up almost precisely with each other. Watch this video and see for yourself.
Some say that there is a power grid on Earth, and aliens used to use this in ancient times to power up their space ships. These ancient monuments around the world allowed them to do so. True or not, the alignment is very strange.
Were the pyramids built by the primitive human race, or by aliens? Maybe the ancient Egyptians were even more advanced than we thought, having access amazing technology. Leave your thoughts in the comments!

It's not a box, it's a pyramid... ;)
Then there's Stonehenge and all the other Henges dotted about on Ley Lines

Hey @charlie.wilson - are you familiar with the Book of Enoch? It was a part of the Dead Sea Scrolls collection along with several other Hellenistic era works. The first part of the book of Enoch parallels and describes a story in the book of Genesis where a group of "angels" bind themselves to an agreement to give mankind knowledge in exchange for copulating with human women. In Genesis they are referred to as Sons of God, whereas in Enoch they are referred to as the Watchers.
Although I can't say one way or another who exactly built the pyramids (my leaning it towards the first scenario - or perhaps even a combination of both). I think humans built the pyramids, but I think it is possible they (some in the ruling hierarchy) were given instruction or knowledge on how to do so by ET intelligence. Whether thats angels or aliens (or both) remains to be seen ;)

Yes! It is very interesting stuff. There are theories that these alien-human half breeds have been running this world. This includes pharaohs, kings, dictators, etc...

Quite honestly not so outlandish if you ask me!

I don't think the Egyptians built the pyramids. They found them. What really gets me is how they moved the huge granite blocks quarried 500 miles to the north when the Nile River flows North, so they didn't 'float' them. (or did they :) )
