On the 6th April I enjoyed a good discussion with @andrarchy (our community liaison within the new Marketing Team at Steemit Inc.) about The Steemian e-Magazine.
@andrarchy is a good guy. He does not however, formulate the strategy or, as best I know, decide upon the priorities.
The Steemian is an initiative designed to take the best output of the steemit.com community across platforms and into the hands of the uninitiated. It is an initiative of mine which I believe has a lot of value to the overall Steemit Inc. Concept.
Unfortunately, there are too many factors performing as hindrances: Rewards Pool filling being funded by the community has led to a massive drop in activity and a very sad rise in people leaving the platform both temporarily and permanently.
On the back of the 'experiment' and in the confusing intentions of the on-going whale flagging and down-voting experiences, it seems foolhardy for anyone to expend the amount of time and effort, not to mention money, upon such a project at this time.
Given that I have received no meaningful communication from the 'Marketing' Department from 6th April until now, it seems that they are equally uninspired to support the initiative.
The e-Magazine, The Steemian, will, therefore, be moth-balled for a later time when there is a more reasonable environment in which to launch this publication.
I would like to express my very great thanks, respect and acknowledgement of their considerable support to my team:
@thecryptofiend, @shadowspub, @denmarkguy and @uwelang
Tremendous thanks also to @rigaronib for his development of bespoke icons for the navigation of the publication.
The Steemian is simply being moth-balled; it will re-emerge at a future date when we are experiencing a more conducive set of circumstances.
Thats too bad ! At least you have allready done alot of planning and design , so when you start back up in the future it will be a bit easier , and im looking forward to that day ! No worries for now , it will happen and may be even better in the future ! 👍👌😊

I think there is a opportunity for Steemit. If Mastodon can go viral then why not Steemit? It needs marketing via the media. There is a hunger for cool new services that break the mould

Thank you for your thoughts. Very much appreciated.
I totally agree, @steevc, unfortunately there needs to be a little housekeeping done before we embark upon anything of that ilk. Given the functionality of the platform at present (very much like wordpress - with no disrespect to wordpress!) I think there is a shortage of "cool" and an oversupply of satellite sites. Front-end unification appears obvious and a concerted effort to allow a better filtration beyond tagging - leading to the possibility of groups and/or micro-communities. The drop in activity does at least make the platform less overwhelming in filleting off the kaka!
Have a great Easter weekend! Thank you again.

Communities could be the next big change. We need to make sure that gets media coverage when it happens. A few tweaks to the UI could help to make it seem more like the modern web

Bummer. Hope it gets un-mothballed soon.

I do too! Thank you for your kind and thoughtful remark.
To have to drop the initiative at this stage after so much planning and design is a great shame. However, with the current malaise, I do not really have an option. To launch this now would be a damp squib. I don't do damp squibs!!
Following you for the sport - and currency stuff!
Namaste.

Haha! Thank you for that - the platform or the state of being occupied?
