Impatience

Today, my cousin's daughter woke up late and somehow still wanted to get to school before 9am as it's their end of the year party and she's in the school's choir. She had her bath and wore her clothes but food wasn't ready. I was boiling yam, stew was ready. She paced up and down the kitchen till I put off the fire. Immediately I dished her food, she just took a piece of the yam into her mouth and spat it almost immediately. The yam was too hot.

She had to wait for a while before eating the yam but this time she already hurt herself and it would take days before the blisters in her mouth healed and I know she didn't enjoy the meal as she would have if she had allowed the yam cooled.

In the bid to beat time, we could cause more damage to ourselves. Patience is a virtue
