The idea of coffee is what attracted me to this post.
I think that you are right in the fact that by choosing to consume our time on something, we have an opportunity cost for a another possibility. Any skill, be it writing or painting, requires practice. Have you heard of the 10.000 hour rule?
Its worth looking into.

I too was suckered in by the coffee in the title. One of the few things in life I have 10,000 hours worth in is drinking coffee. Drinking some as I type.
It does bring out the fact that maybe I need to reprioritize my life and get one or two other 10,000 hour things going. After all, my hour allotment is dwindling steadily.
