You don't have to look for just a single person, who will be all ears and appreciate your feelings, to vent your burdens.
Just share what you are going, or have gone through, among a group of friends. In real life. Whenever there comes a chance for you to say. Of course, in the first place, you need to gain trust that none of them will exploit your weaknesses in case they acknowledge.
Some will laugh at your past mistakes, some will attempt to interrupt. Some will ignore, some will frankly say you are just a complainer because there are many others who have gone through the worse. The worst case is that all of them will force you to stop.
There exist the fear of being ignored, fear of being misjudged, fear of being disrespected.
However, by overcoming those fears, you will discover among those people you usually meet the ones who truly care about you and the ones who do not.
What's the big deal if all of them force you to stop? You have never had the chance to speak anyway! You have nothing to lose.
There will be some who will attentively listen to what you have been through. Even better, some among them will give you advice. Even better than that, some pieces of advice can change your life and release you from that situation forever.
Why in real life, not via social media? Simple: you cannot know for sure who have fully read your online post, but you can observe to see who pay attention to you when you talk.
If you keep silence like you have always been and keep waiting for the perfect moment, for the perfect person to share; your life will never change for the better. How can you be sure you can live until that "perfect moment" and meet that "special someone"?
So you have read my full post. Thank you. These are just my ideas of what to do if you are in such a situation. It depends on you to act.
If you find this is helpful for someone in need for help like I used to, please share with them. I truly appreciate that :)
You're right - you can't know for sure who has read your online post....
unless they comment ;)
Sometimes you can find a very supportive community - even online! :) I've gotten involved in some great communities and have developed amazing friendships in there too! An online community can be less intimidating to share your feelings with - for people who are very shy!
Thanks for your thoughts on this :)
