I just want to impress everyone

From looking for a new job to looking for a new relationship, I always feel like there's someone I should try to impress.

It's so easy to lose sight of the things you like in life when you spend all your time trying to impress people to get further. Yes, it sounds horrible, but when you're young do you always know what you want or where you want to be? I know for myself, I figured that by learning about other people I could decide the best way to talk and act around them. I guess now that I have that written down, it sort of sounds manipulative. I don't know if I'd consider it that way.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who has tried to sound more amazing than they really are in order to get the job. Or maybe lying on a date to sound cooler. I always wanted to sound much better than I really was. I figure, you can always sort out the small things as you go on, but getting to that starting line was the toughest part.

Maybe this was a dumb idea, and more likely is still a terrible idea. Even though I said in my last post that I sort of know what I want to do career wise, I'm sure that if I can't make myself look a little better than I already am, I won't get anywhere. I just want to get in the door. To do that, I'm really going to have to impress some people...
