Human Instinct // Gluttony

in thoughts •  6 years ago  (edited)

Isn’t it funny how we smoke the first 5/6 of a bag of weed in a few days, but savor the bits at the bottom for ages?

How we blast through our paychecks near payday and barely scrape by otherwise?

How we pollute and ravage our earth until it seems like it’s too late?

How we take advantage of our friends until it seems like all our bridges are burned?

I'm guilty of the same type of thinking. Not sure why. I don't burn Bridges and I like to think that I don't polute and ravage the earth, yet I know that I do. We all do. I don't litter or destroy things on my own, yet I support companies who do. It's tough to not polute through fules, plastics, disposal, etc.
I've Never taken advantage of another human though. I feel like I give too much, and I wish that I could change that about myself. Those that act in that manner seem to get further ahead. I just cant, despite my intelligence.

If I were able to live without feelings or empathy, I would rule the world. If only I could see through the eyes of a narcissist for just one day.

Fuck.... I just wrote a blog.... Should I post this?

Very true stuff man! Better to be selfless than selfish in every scenario IMO... Link me if you flush those ideas out and post! :)

It might be hard-wired genetically. Our distant ancestors had to chow down that wooly mammoth now because they had no idea when they might be able to kill another one.

Solid point, Wombat! Easy to forget the relevancy of our primal nature in todays world
