"If we shoot a film about today's culture and show it to the people of the future, it will be a horror film."- Jacques Fresco

Jacques Fresco was born in 1916 in New York, where he went to the general education school. This is the only fact of the arrival of Jacques Fresco in any educational institution. At the age of 14 Jacques had a problem with the school administration: he refused to take the traditional oath of allegiance to the US flag. In a conversation with the director summoned for his explanations, Fresco explained that he does not want to limit himself to the commitment of only one nation, but wants to be part of the universal human family. In other words, the young man expressed his views, which are usually referred to as cosmopolitanism.

Jacques left school and he has no formal completed education - neither secondary nor higher.

As the major upheavals of his life, he calls three events: the Great Depression in the United States, the Second World War and his trip to the tropical Pacific islands after the war. Depression made Jacques think about the imperfection of the economic system, in which, with the means of production and resources available, millions of people die from hunger. The war led Fresco to the idea that the current branch of society's development is a dead end, since it spends more resources and resources on the means of destroying people than on improving the living conditions of mankind. Acquaintance with the way of life of island natives suggested to Jacques, as it seems to him, a panacea recipe for all the ills of the world - the rejection of money as the equivalent of values and the gratuitous distribution of values to all who need it.

Money, according to Fresco, must be completely abolished, because they are the main factor that separates people. Thanks to the development of science and high technologies, the future society will build an economic system where not people but cars will work in the spheres of production. People, getting all the necessary resources for free, will be able to realize their own creative abilities, each in its own direction. Thus, inequality, conflicts, organized crime and wars will disappear.

I did not mention the project "Venus". This is in Wikipedia. To whom it is interesting, you can read.

Maybe I do not understand something, but I think he wanted to make the world better.

How do you feel about Jacques Fresco and what do you think about him?

You are absolutely right, today's world is no less than a horror film. But how do we know tomorrow is going to be better or worse. Throughout history, we human beings have never done enough to help out each other and the failures of the past are today's consequences.

Very true! Completely agree with you.

so true, I hope the world changes for the better

Thank you for bringing this guy to my attention. I probably have a lot in common with him.

I will say that in spite of the bleak nature of his quote, there is a certain optimism present within Jacques. Not only does he believe that there is a future, he believes it will be so good that the people then will be horrified by what we are now.

That's a goal I can strive for, building a world where our children say "people used to treat eachother like THAT?"

He is correct about the way that the current system works against humankind. I think that, even without the financial system, people will still try to find ways to keep other people down. That is the problem; greed for power and position will always be there. Until we find a way to get rid of that, or do something to stop people who are like that from harming others, the problems we now have won't go away.

It depends where you look. There are certainly so many terrible things going on now that it's hard not to get overwhelmed by them...all you have to do is glance at the news and it's easy to become horrified.

There are, however, so many beautiful, amazing, good things going on too. No matter how bleak things may seem, there's still always good out there and I personally have to try hard sometimes to focus on the good and also do what I can to help create more good in the world.

@maxer27, I wonder if that would fall under the genre (or mixed genres) of body-horror/splatter/disaster-horror/psychological-horror 😐
It was a interesting post to read, especially to start my day... will read more about "Venus" project (because that's what I do, reading random things to sift out information useful or insightful to me). I'm relatively new to this site, so I am not sure if Steemit is all about producing content just to make money, but I do make sure that I upvote posts like these, which are worth reading, for real 👍
