I think and read about gratitude a lot lately because everyone is on it. Which of course makes me suspicious if that's just another fad or shift in the general awareness of the population. I am always in the lookout for what the Zeitgeist is brewing because it is very easy to be influenced by what someone used to call " the spirit of the era". Basically, some ideas, tastes and attitudes propagate as if airborn and everyone seems to be on them all of a sudden.
That's not always a bad thing. In this case, I'd be grateful.
But I am a skeptical and I am not sure that all those "blessed" tags are genuine. But how can one tell? In the end, does it even matter? If a person even think that is blessed and grateful the second it takes to write it, I say good for them! However, I expect more from myself. REAL gratefulness
.
I heard from Tim Ferris of the 30 days no complaint challenge. Self explanatory but basically it means that you must try not to complain for 30 days and when you do...well, you become aware that you did, make a note, donate 1$, anything you want. The idea is that we complain too much and we are not even so aware of this. If you don't measure it, what do you think? Feelings, impressions, fleeting nothings.
It's one thing that I enjoy doing; getting some nice data and trying to see if I can find some meaning in all and use it as 'information" aka help me make more informed decisions.
Gratefulness by numbers? You betcha.
And this end with my favorite quote these days:
"You've changed the outcome by measuring it!"
Thanks for the thought provoking post! Lately, I've noticed a wave (more like a tsunami) of self-help gurus and "life hackers" on social media who seem to be grooming their audiences to keep coming back to their content instead of teaching them how to change their thoughts and patterns.
I really like Tim Ferris and the concept of the 30 Days No Complaint Challenge and may try it myself.
Did you make it to SteemFest?

Sadly I did not this year :( Still sorry about it!!
But yes, there is a hype with all this now..but there's a real need for more awareness and mindfulness and I hope some of these" gurus" are spreading the right message. Tim is one of the good guys for sure.

Raymi and I missed it too, quite a few first-wave Steemians did.
There are definitely legit teachers out there! I found a great podcast on an app called Podbean. The podcast is called Dharmapunx NYC and it's a class taught by this Buddhist teacher from Brooklyn. The content is phenomenal and I always seem to connect with it.

I like the sound of this challenge. I also think taking time to reflect on what we have to be grateful for each day is important too.

For sure! Challenge is just something to remind you to bring your attention on gratefulness, not a strict thing to "conquer".
