Goodwill Outlet Income Experiment - Thrifting, Picking, & Finding Profit Day 11 - Goose Biots?

Adventures in thrifting income from the pay per pound Goodwill - Day 11.

I got to the Goodwill Outlet a little bit later than normal today. I got home and said I would lay down for 30 minutes as I was feeling pretty tired. (The hustle takes its toll!) Well, that 30 minutes turned into almost 2 hours.

It's ok though, I got a good score that will bring in a lot of profit. Most people won't believe which item it is. Can you tell what that one item is from the picture below?

Today is March 28th and it is day 11. Let's see what I found this Wednesday.

Goodwill Outlet Income Experiment: Day 11

Today I am keeping the Diaper Genie, small flathead screwdriver, and the two pot lids.

The Diaper Genie will replace our busted one. On ours, the piece that allows one half of the inside to open to allow the diaper to go into the hell hole of baby shit is broken. So this is worth the few bucks I paid.

Two Revere Ware pot lids. Ok, now it's getting ridiculous. Why only lids and no pots? I really need to get a set of lids together and list them on eBay.

The screwdriver just because it was a thinner one that could get into places.

A blank VHS video and a cassette tape. I save these up and when I get enough I list them as a lot on eBay. Not together, separately.

Another small NERF gun for the lot I am building up.

King's Quest Collection for PC. No box, but these discs are scratch-free. They weigh almost nothing, so a few dollars in profit will be easy when they sell. Plus, I always hate to see classic PC games got to waste.

48X30! Woah, that's a big dude. Horizontally, that is. Anyways, these are new with tags and had no defects. Big guys always have a hard time finding their size, so the extra large stuff sells pretty well online.

I found 14 of these unopened goose biot (I had to look up what a biot was) feather packages. Each package is .15oz - so at a rate of 89 cents per pound, I paid around 12 cents for all of them. Each package had a retail price of $1.99. I think I can make some money from these.

I found this old MASTERPIECE board game from the 1970's. It was in good condition, the box wasn't torn and all the pieces were there except a die. I figured I could scrounge up some dice from some of the crappy board games, but after looking in the 4th board game I now believe that someone was going around taking the dice out of each game box.

This intrigues me. I must research this dice hustle and see if there is anything to it. I took one die out of a board game from my personal collection so I could list this one.

I found this Iceberq4 cooling fan kit and it looked complete. I didn't look too closely though, it does appear that someone tried to install it before putting it all back in the box. So that really brought the value down. Oh well, I just wrote it all out in the listing - it still has some value.

Now we come to the big profit item of the day - Werner Erhard cassettes!

A few years back I found two sets of his in a thrift store. When I looked them up I was amazed at the prices they were going for! I paid $3 for both sets and listed them for $175 - AND THEY SOLD THAT NIGHT!

So you can imagine how quickly I scooped this up from the bin when I saw it. I then spent an extra effort looking for another but there was none to be found.

Apparently this Erhard guy was a popular self-help type guru in the 70's and 80's until he was set upon by the media who accused him of numerous wrongdoings. Specifically a "60 Minutes" episode about him pretty much ended his career, even though it was all proven wrong later one. Werner was even set up by the IRS as tax evasion was a claim by the media, and the investigation proved he was innocent. The Scientologists were also out to get him. It really seems like a large conspiracy put him in their sights.

He is still alive today, though he is 82 and doesn't do speaking nor does he sell his old products. So these cassettes remain valuable to those that love the man.

Sales!

Sort Order:

On the Goose Biot (thin curly feathers) i believe that is the current bag design... but those companies seem to never upgrade their branding.
I believe they are much more valuable than the price printed on the bag.

Yep $7 a bag now

Also, the pants, with the stickers still on it looks like good deal.

Oh cool, the feathers aren't very popular though. I think I might have them for a bit of time...

But the pants already sold!

Love the Flowbee find!!! Things that children today will never believe existed without finds like this!!! Cool stuff, love this project you are working on.

I was talking to the younger guys at work and they had never heard of it! Haha

Looks like you found this game in good
Condition enjoy playing that

Too late - someone bought it already!

When I did saw the first picture, I really did wonder why you did, again, buy a lit. Glad that you have explained it :)
With this pace you will reach 1K profit from the experiment, which is just .... great!

Wow, $1K - that would be great!

.

They are still new and wrapped, plus I don't have a VHS player.

Nice finds! I've never heard of Werner Erhard. That's pretty interesting...I'll have to look him up.

Sales and profit seem to be picking up. Hmm...wonder how much you'll earn in the one month? :)

I guess we shall find out in about 28 days or so. :D

It will be an interesting experiment for sure especially since crypto is down and if we can focus on making more crypto and making other money outside of crypto as well.

Yea, back to my old strategy of just hustling and then blogging here about it. Two birds, one stone type of thing. I mean I can't spend a few hours writing lengthy posts when I might get $4 or something...

Now I go hustle for $100 and then make that $4 by talking about it.

Yeah this went to hell in a hand basket real fast to be honest and it isn't exactly a good time for that to be happening for me. I kind of had goals of amounts I was going to try to pump out of this in the next week. That might be out of the window though.

I might have to focus back on resell as well. eBay pissed me off so bad a couple of weeks ago I wanted to punch the little meth baby I was talking to from eBay.

Well, shit. If you wanna do a video of you and me thrifting I am up for that.

A blank VHS video and a cassette tape

Do people even have the things to read VHS tapes anymore? I think i sold my last one a few years ago...

I've never heard about this Werner Erhard guy, now i MUST look him up, if his products are worth 175$ he must have been a really good sel-help guru. Scientologist are always out to get someone...

People will always continue to use obsolete things. Now places are not making these blank tapes, so they turn to eBay to find what they need. :)
