Eating certain foods or drinks can also be a way to get rid of hiccups. The following will explain some foods and drinks that can eliminate hiccups.

Experts estimate that sleep disorders cause the body to lack oxygen, triggering hiccups. This is because sleep occurs when the throat is temporarily blocked or the brain fails to get signals from the respiratory muscles during sleep. If the cause of hiccups is suspected from a health problem, then further examination needs to be done. One is a blood test to detect signs of infection, kidney disease, or diabetes. Complications of hiccups are rare, but when they do occur, they can cause discomfort in performing daily activities, difficulty eating, gastroesophageal reflux, respiratory alkalosis (in tracheostomy patients), wound dehiscence (opening of the surgical wound), sleep deprivation, sleep disturbances and mental health.
