Iodine
Did you know that your thyroid needs Iodine to function properly, Iodine is an essential nutrient your body must get from foods. This mineral is needed in very small amounts for your thyroid to function normally.
The best natural source of iodine is sea foods found in saltwater, You can eat kelp which is a seaweed, and is used a lot in Japanese delicious foods. Kelp is essentially a "sea vegetable" high in the mineral iodine, which is essential for thyroid hormone production.
Shellfish such as shrimp and prawns are also rich in iodine.
If you find you've levelled off on a weight loss diet, you can take a quality kelp supplement (as long as you are healthy and don't have any medications for an under active thyroid, always check with you doctor)
Obviously a healthy life style, lots of activity and mobility, and good eating choices are also key.
Thanks for readying my little insight into Kelp, I take 100mg everyday on an empty stomach with hot water.
If nothing else, you're hair and nails grow much faster and stronger and skin is more plump too, win, win.

Great post! Iodine is what shorts in most people's diets and a little bit will make a big improvement.
But on a side note; people with Grave's Disease should steer clear from iodine which will exacerbate the condition.
Symptoms of Grave's Disease include anxiety, hand tremor, heat sensitivity, weight loss, puffy eyes and enlarged thyroid.

Hi Vandeenberg, thanks for the reply, and that’s good to know, I suppose most supplements should be investigated if there is an underlying condition, Graves’ disease sounds very unpleasant indeed. X

Yes I think it's just safer to do a little homework or get a professional opinion if one is not 100% sure ;)
